No doubt. I think the original XBOX component cable is the nicest quality component cable out of all the systems.
I repaired a GC component cable once for someone and IMHO, that is the best component cable I've ever dealt with for any console. The build quality is like a beautiful piece of art. The original Xbox component cable is a very close second though. I have the second revision of the HD AV Pack (the cable version as pictured above) and while it is very, very nice, the GC component cable just had a little more quality to it. Not to mention ~5 layers of shielding I had to cut through to fix the thing iirc... As for the OP, I've never heard of the Joytech cable. If you could post some pictures of it, that would be wonderful.
The GC definitely has better component video quality than the Xbox. I have one of the earlier Xboxes (I forget the revision, I think it's a 1.1) which is supposed to have the best video quality, and the official HD pack. The GC is still better, though the Xbox is pretty good. I don't know how much of that is due to the cables, but I'm guessing it has more to do with the encoder. Also, the DC's VGA quality destroys both of them.
If only the aspect ratio wasn't so messed up that many displays squish or stretch the image.... Thankfully, the HDMI mod fixes that and you could just use a simple HDMI to VGA adapter to get the proper 4:3 aspect ratio.
I dont have GC component ( I dont have GC), but in WiiU (HDMI) GC game are so beautiful, nicer than Wii game in WiiU/HDMI. For DC, VGA is really the best of this gen. Now I run with Akura is so sharp and colour so nice...better than all system. For examle if you compare XBLA port and DC games like VOOT, crazy taxi, Ikaruga no difference!!! So it's not really a cable issue, but video output. For exemple PS2 with any cable (scart, component....) you have always bad image: dull colour, alliasing...For DC nothing.
I kinda agree about VGA on DC vs Component on Xbox. I have enjoyed both consoles a lot, and sometimes the 480p on DC just seemed clearer. 720p and up on Xbox is great though.
Yeah for 480p DC is the best but the 720p is very nice in XBOX, unfotanelly little game run in this res but emulator like FBL is very nice.
