JPN Mega Drive 2 50hz/60hz mod problem on ASIC 315-5487-10

I have a JPN Mega Drive 2 VA1 board that I am having issues with the 50hz/60hz mod. First I tried cutting the trace on pin 46 and while 60hz mode works fine, the 50hz just gives me a strange composite video color, but stays in 60hz. Then I repaired the trace and lifted pin 46 and wired my spdt switch to it and I get the same results.

I have a US Genesis 2 VA3 board with a 315-5660 ASIC and it works great in both 50hz and 60hz, in 50hz mode the screen rolls and is in black and white so I know it is in 50hz mode, and will load my PAL games. I can then change back to 60hz mode and play them in color.

Has anyone else had issues using this board?

 

It turns out that is suffers from similar issues that a VA7 Genesis 1 does. This ASIC still plays sound correctly, but it does not go into PAL 50hz mode.
