Hey guys, i just happen to stumble over YouTube for some comparsion videos by a youtuber guy named GPE a.k.a. Interesting topic. Even if I like RPG Games in general (Western and Eastern RPGs), I will say Snes Games > PC Games......Why ? Because Japanese are more Consoles Games than PC; I'd tested Ryuuki Densyou Dragoon 2 on PC and I will say it isn't a bad Game, but it lacks something Japanese RPG Games like Tales of Phantasia on Snes have....... With these recent topic (http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?50778-Japanese-Import-Pc-Gaming), we can see Japanese have made some Consoles Games ports on PC; 2 examples which I can quote are PC ports of Lunar Silver Star Stories and Growlanser.

Wow, great debate. I wonder which side you're on. Dude, we get it, you feel consoles are unworthy of praise and you're all about 3rd party computer ports (wtf?) and no-budget originals. From the looks of it there's ONE (I'm guessing Taiwanese) original game, which frankly looks like shit IMHO, and the others are ports of PC-98 titles, so they aren't even tailored to PC hardware. The Y's port may be Korean exclusive, but what respect does it deserve over the original game? There's something wrong with you.
90's PC was fantastic for some genres and weak in others. Japanese role playing games are one of the weakness genres. It's not even close in my opinion, SNES easily for JRPG. To flip the situation it's as unfair as DOS vs SNES FPS games. A very clear winner in each situation Maybe racing games would be an interesting comparison for one of your videos. But maybe a little unfair as DOS was still getting big budget racers till 97 or so while SNES wasn't (as far as I know).
Fine! wouldn't it be better if i done action/adventure platforming or shrump comparison instead? and it seems like you guys are making a HUGE deal out of the whole Japanese RPG thing! maybe i should've said only RPG since that'll make TONS of sense to Everyone here! and what's wrong with having creative debates even if they're are unrealisticly impossible or "dumb" to do. so i guess doing once again another same ol Super Nes vs Sega Genesis ALL OVER AGAIN is what works around with some doesn't it? seriously guys just get over it and think imaginative for once.
In fact, I talked about Japanese Games in general because I'm not a Korean Game's fan (even if they've made some good Games......). But that's right I will have to talk Games which were on your video's link and I've talked in general....... I agree some Korean Games are very similar to Snes Games for colorful Graphics and beautiful music but personally, I prefer Consoles Games.......If I can quote some known Korean Games on PC, I will say War of Genesis series (one of the Games in these series is also released on Consoles......) I can't say DOS Games are bad or something like that because I've begun video games with DOS Games and Sega Genesis, so, I can play these Games as I can play some recent Games without problems......
@Stevemc very true! also in fact people are accusing or referring to the western DOS instead of the Taiwan & Korean ones and i kinda understand why a few can't really say much on the subject, so i sorta respect that if it's the issue.
As I've read, you're right people refers to Western Dos instead of Taiwan or Korean DSwizzy145......It's a shame we are few people which knows Eastern video Games released on PC (especially Japanese, Taiwan or Korean).
It really is a huge shame that were the only ones around, kinda feels lonely when no else knows the greatest of these exclusive titles and stuck to having to hear peoples compliants on something unrelenting & unfair to the subject at hand. These guys just needs to learn to be completely open minded for once and do some further research before complaining! P.S btw not relevant to Jrpgs but did you know that there was a Ranma 1/2 game Exclusively for the Taiwanese MS-DOS?! ;-) I bet none of the fans haven't know that!
I can understand why people doesn't know these Games released on PC because they are obscure : I have the luck to find some informations about Japanese PC Games thanks to a French blog when I've begun to interested in these Games (which is closed now unfortunately......) and I don't think a lot of people will have the time and motivation to make some long researchs....... After, I think it's my collector's instinct which has put me in researchs of these very rare Games !!! And I'm not surprised to see some Games like Ranma 1/2 released exclusively on Taiwanese MS-DOS : I'm sure they should have some other obscure Games of well-known Animes which exists ......
@Stevemc True! its the fact alot of folks don't like to deep research on things but lets YouTube do the researching FOR them, which in many cases some stuff are misinformed and are usually false (Not all the time) but in my eyes it's just pure laziness! And that's not cool! Then again i'd agree why most people don't care because they're too "obscure" for people tastes, and refuses to take a quick look nor interest on the hobby. Maybe that's why it's best for guys/everyone to stick to what they know best and not to even Freaking bother no more!!
Sorry but I don't agree on some points : if you want to know, Youtube's videos have helped me sometimes because there is some people which knows these Games (but you should find them too ......). And I've found some good videos on Nicovideo too ...... You can't ask people to make the same things we've done for finding all these Games : we are all different and people look things which are general.......I think we should show these Games since we've made some researches : we can interest people in showing these very rare Games, not forcing them.
I take that back, i really didn't mean all YouTube videos in general but some of them thats lacks the sorta information, I apologise. but yeah i also get most of my info & videos of from nico nico douga as well! and yeah you have a point there, i can't really force upon people to like it automatically so creating some gameplay would Definitely be the way to go! Hey, no problem !!! Now, the only thing it misses me is to find some kind of complete list of Japanese Pc Games without counting Hentai Games or Touhou Games (whoops, the main topic was on JRPG MS-DOS vs SNES debate and it becomes JRPG in general......Sorry).

I don't know about RPGs but I prefer KOEI strategy games on DOS than SNES/MEGA Let's hope this doesn't turn into another MSX vs NES thread haha.
What's wrong with MSX vs Nes thread? They both seem very identical almost & keep in mind there actually was a Consolized MSX gaming machine back in that time period (though only in Korea sadly) so yeah its safe to say a debate can happen! Would it be better if I done MSX2 vs PC-8801/9801 to make everyone here feel happy?
