I was at Kings Cross today, just before the last train was due to arrive on the victoria line northbound... A young woman shoved past our group on the platform, and started pacing a little.

Then the train came in, she took a run, and dived onto the track (bad timing maybe?)

Then the train hit and launched the lower half of her onto the platform, and the rest was under the train.

When speaking to the station supervisor, he said theres usually 2 jumpers a day in the week before christmas, can people really get that low? After all it's another day, I'm sure your kid wont hold a grudge against you just because you can't afford an xbox 360 this year.

Damn you were there? I would be traumatized for life if I ever witnessed such! The most I've ever seen was a goat being killed (not trying to be funny). That's pretty sad for that to happen, especially around this period. I sure hope the family of that woman can find some peace...

i remember our old house, with the garden besides the railroad track...you know in germany most of the tracks are on dams, kind of, so that the streets can lead through these dams via tunnels. anyways. so one day a friend of me decided to end his life...and jumped against a train and because the tracks are 10 meters above the earth (as i said, they are on dams) the body parts were flying everywhere...hiw lower arm + hand in our garden....

btw it was a ICE called train (Inter City Express) which doesn't stop in our town so it rushes through with over 300km/h, now imagine the mess it made...

Ahh, that one. There are a few to tell the truth. The most recent ones are idiots meeting each other via Email. They then gather together and gas themselves in a car or what ever. Been 3 cases this year of group suicides in Japan. These people must be really messed up though to follow what they read in Emails. Some of them are only teenagers depressed with life thanks to the pressure some get from their parents. In Japan if you don't go to Uni then you are a nobody. Doesn't matter what you study when you get there as long as you went. Bollocks I say to that.! Experience is what you need in life, not a piece of paper.

Why is it called 'Suicide forest'? I had the idea it was a real forest where people went to kill themselves?

Well: people if I didn´t enjoy the joy of living, I wouldn´t be around, heck I have to say this, I hate christmas so much, that I can understand why some people kills themself. But as I said I love life in its most simple way. So I am not going bye bye at any cost. I am an optmist in every way, since even when I am in the deepest hole, I will rather be depressed than kill myself.

this is kinda like that episode of Paranoia Agent, where the people meet up in forums to top them self.

btw that episode is very good and captures the issue quite well. One of the best in that series imo.

There's a forest north of tokyo, that many people go to kill themselves in hopes that they will never be found.

One can go hiking and find skeletons in sleeping bags, bones in trees.

The have the police walk it every year, and every year they remove the remains of several hundred people.

  16. Explain why the dancing smilie is really necessary.

That's really creepy. Do the police just sweep it once a year or something?

Some guy jumped off a twenty story building where I live. He landed on a car and survived... If he thought life was bad before can you imagine what he thought waking up after taking a swan dive off a building and knowing he couldn't even do that right?

What was the reaction to her lower torso landing on the platform? Got any pics?

I hate my life, but you don’t see me throwing myself in front of a train or bus. People should have the decency to kill themselves in their own homes, and not f*** up the day for thousands of commuters.

At least these people look to take their own lives without involving other people. The only negative of this is the Japanese PD may have to pay OT.

    ^_^_^

  19. Actually, it's apparently a bit worse than that. I did a bit of Googling Aokigahara (the forest) and found out that not only do the police often have to work overtime to go on these body hunts, but the people in the town closest to the forest have to foot the bill for disposing of remains in the form of raised taxes.

If you've got the time, do a Google image search for Aokigahara. The forest is REALLY creepy looking from the images you turn up, even before you take into account the whole suicide thing.

It's sad that people think the easiest solution to a problem is to take their own life.
