Decided to give this game a spin, four years after buying it... and damn is it fun! I have the Japanese version, without manual, so it's not exactly clear to me how one saves a game! There's an option in the main menu (where it's totally useless?) but I haven't found it anywhere else.
Good call, I also have the Japanese version (play it on my Japanese PS3) and would like to know as well. Singularly awesome game, even now.
Hmm, long time since I've played this one, but I don't remember a save! It's an arcade game!!! It's like 6 worlds with 3 levels in each, isn't it? That's even less than SMB, and that doesn't have saves ;-) EDIT: Yeah, I found this: http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/01/10/psone-review-jumping-flash/ You can download a DexDrive save that'll allow you to play any level, though. Whether it'll work on a PAL copy, I don't know... http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/save/572469.html
Wait...it's not an actual arcade game is it? Or just arcade style. If its an actual arcade game that one can buy in PCB form me wantee. I've never gotten to try the full version of the game though...All I remember is that when Playstation was first released, a friend and I had a blast playing the demo on the sampler CD that came with the system.
Arcade as in the genre ;-) You don't usually save on arcade games in the arcade. If it were a conversion, I'd have said coin-op ;-) The closest you get in the arcades (title-wise) is Jumping Jack which is.... nowhere near the same! heh.
I know, I got that for you ;-) In fact I bought two that holiday, I gave you the good one and I kept the disc-only version... without manual. And I still don't know how to save
Jumping Flash? When I was a kid this is the one PS1 game I would play nonstop. I can assure you that it is possible to save. But how.... that seems to fade my memory. :crying:
Did you tried pressing Start (Pause button) during the game? It's been ages since i played it, but i'm almost positive this is the way to do it. Here's the guide for JF2: 3) Saving Normally there would be no need for instructions on how to save in a FAQ, but since Jumping Flash 2 doesn't make it immediately obvious I thought I should cover it. When you're ready to save simply hit START and then select QUIT. If it asks you if you want to continue say NO. Don't worry, you won't lose your progress. Now from the main menu select SAVE, and take it from there. NOTE: This game can only load games from memory card slot one.
I'm afraid that doesn't work either - pressing the start button just gives me "PAUSE" on screen with no other options. I've tried saving from the main menu to see if it would autosave after that, but alas it doesn't. Getting desperate! Help!
Something i found on a PSP download review http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/01/10/psone-review-jumping-flash/ Finally, the game's saving structure isn't ideal for portable gamers: you have to beat three stages consecutively in order to save
LOL! That's the same review I quoted a couple of days ago - see my earlier post ;-) As I kept saying, the save option was very limited ;-) You might as well just play through! Oh, and I meant I don't know if the DexDrive save works with a JAPANESE copy - don't know why I said PAL... although that's applicable too, I guess!
AntiPasta, Glad to hear your having so much fun!!! I 've see those ps1 around, but I don't know anything about them. They look like they last for ever!:icon_bigg
