Got my brand new tasty DTL-T10000H PS2 Development Tool last week and now that I am back from holiday I wanted to have a fiddle with it and see what I can do with it.

I have no idea how to use this thing so any help or advice would be appreciated! Also, what is the difference between the DTL-T10000H and a normal DTL-T10000? This particular console is very new as all the documentation is dated 2004/2005. This particular one was from SCEE.

The console came boxed with the following....

    • 2 PS2 control pads
    • 4 power leads (UK, US, EUR and AUS)
    • DTL-T10000H console
    • DTL-H20400 (40Gb external HDD for use with Tool)
    • DTL-H10010 Development tool PC card
    • Island blue memory card!
    • 8 huge user manuals (V 6.0)
    • RGB Euro AV cable
    • 2 spare motor drives (Cylindrical metal things - what are they for???)
    • PlayStation 2 SDK v 3.0 (includes Runtime Libraries 3.0.1, Hardware manuals V6.0, PlayStation 2 Technical reference, Technical Requirements checklist 2.4, Multistream Sound API 7.2, Network Analysis suite 1.0, Shell System 2.0, AProbe 1.1, Sulpha 1.1, QA Tool 2.4, VU Tools.
    • Image Studio for PS2
    • Performance analyser software for DTL-T15000
    • Various other development support docs.
Is anyone familiar with the above software and what I can do with it. I have 3 different TEST stations to link it up with but I'm not sure what else this can do. I know how QA Tools work (memory card check software for use with TEST stations).

Also, what's the difference between TOOL mode and WS (workstation mode). The only screen that appears on my TV screen is the "TOOL" network information screen. This happens in both modes.....

Any help is appreciated to help me get the most out of this kit. I think HI_Ricky and Macwest have PS2 TOOLS....??

    Cheers peeps.

The H means it's internet enabled (If you get the adaptor). You need to connect it to a PC to make use of it. Either get a network crossover cable or connect it via a switch. You will need to know it's network ID which should be on the info screen (so long as the packages are up to date)

If you go to a web browser and type in it's IP address you will be able to change the system time and things. You will need the root admin name and password which will probably be Administrator and Administrator (case sensitive)

You will then need the PC tools installed on your PC. From the PS2 device manager, you can download .elf files and run them or run disks by resetting the tool with the right reset parameters (2, 0x1a2 if I remember right)

Yep it came with the external HDD, PC network card and power adapter. Do I connect the TOOL to my PC using the network socket built into the TOOL or the one attached to the PC card that I inserted into the back of the tool and then linked up to the HDD?

At the moment I can't get it to work, so will connect it to gateway in a minute. Also, should I install all the software onto my PC that i mentioned above? What is the PS2 device manager...?

Sorry about the 20 questions - complete noob when it comes to the PS2 TOOL!

They can only be attached to the H version anyway.

You will need to use the one on the TOOL itself. The other one is the PS2 side (not the dev system side)

I can't rember the exact name at the moment, but it's part of the ProDG tools. When you install them, you will get an icon on the toolbar. The device manager will allow you to connect to the TOOL if you give it the IP address. If you don't have ProDG, you will have to use the linux tools (under cygwin), but I never used these so don't know them too well. All I remember is PS2Reset and PS2Run. If you have the documentation, these should be covered in there.[/QUOTE]

No problem. What do you intend to use it for btw? It's not the best system for playing games on as it can be a bit of a pain to get them working, especially if you want to play online games with it. If you want to do some coding on it, you will need a compiler and tools.

I'm in! The password was right - cheers. I have connected them up to switch (PC and TOOL). Cheers.

I do not have ProDG - and as I'm not a licensed developer I cannot purchase these. Maybe I can buy one from you? PM me if this is ok. If not - I understand, I'll just have to use the Linux tools (yuck).

I have a PS2 Linux kit already which is cool, but just wanted to see the difference between that and the official TOOL and try some programming on it. I know a bit of both C/C++. I do have C++ installed on this PC.

Are you a PS2 developer btw?

If you don't mind my asking, but how much did the kit end up costing you?

Do you know how to access PS2 memory card data?
How to edit, add, delete the *.elf, *.db file from PC to PS2 memory card?
I saw some article that X-port & Ilink can do it.
But I can't find the detail from google.
Are you ever try this on your PS2 TEST?

Wow, that's quite the necrobump... you just posted to an 11 years old thread.
I don't have it handy, but I'm sure a quick google search for this will get you what you're looking for:
