for adding emulators for some games like NES. Just the guide please as the forum probably frowns on linking rom files.
Not so much a guide, but something to get you started at least: http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Emulation_on_PSP Edit: is it modded already? If not: https://code.google.com/p/procfw/wiki/Installation
I'm going to let it get fully charged (and some sleep myself) before I check. I don't know if it's modded at all but considering there's little scratch on the system and the memory stick had a few files, I am guessing the previous owner got it, played with it for a few hours, then forgot about it for many years. So safe to assume it's not modded. Thanks for the links BTW. Computer emulated too? Can there be USB keyboard for PSP? As seeing it has USB port. A lot of computer games aren't playable without keyboard.
Not sure if you can connect a keyboard to a PSP, I have never seen that. There are DOS and C64 emulators for the PSP, but they use the PSP control scheme.
I looked around, it seems there was a plan to make an add-on keyboard for PSP but then it was cancelled. http://www.geek.com/games/logic-3-cancels-psp-keyboard-561752/ Seems Sony didn't release the information the 3rd party company needed to get the keyboard interface to work as keyboard.
I am having some trouble with this. I have firmware 6.60 and since I got this used without box, I can't tell what motherboard type it is. I followed the direction and put the files into PSP/Games and when I checked in PSP, 3 files shows up corrupted, only 660 PRO-C Fast Recovery shows useable but that is not mentioned in the guide. How can I tell if CFW is installed? I don't have a Pandora battery and if I do have CFW installed, the guide mentioned I'd need to re-run if I shut down the PSP completely. Rerun which exactly?
The CFW isn't permanent so you need to run fast recovery after you power on, it only takes 15 seconds or so though. You can test if you have custom firmware by trying to run homebrew or a backup.
Actually you can check in the System Settings > System Information after running Fast Recovery. If it says Firmware 6.60 then no CFW, if it says 6.60 PRO-C2 or something you're all good.
For me, I found that those PSP-2000 series unit with a metal UMD bay might be one with a TA-88v3. CFWs are permanent, as they involve a custom IPL. Those Lite CFWs (LCFWs) like PRO firmwares are the ones that need to be re-activated after ever cold boot/hard reset. Hence why I prefer the ME firmwares (where possible), since they feel a lot like the old M33/GEN firmwares in this area and its developer was the first to support v6.60 instead of sticking with some obsolete firmware version (important for PSN access).
First run the PRO Updater( I think that is what it was called) to install the PRO LCFW, Once that is done on the XMB go to settings then down to system settings, In there go system info and check that the firmware version is whatever you have BUT! also says something like "PRO". If not then run the Fast Recovery to load up the LCFW, Now you should be able to run whatever you want but first run PSPIdent ==> http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/1286 That will tell you if your PSP is capable of using the cIPL patcher to make PRO fully permanent or if you want you can install ME tho honestly it doesn't really matter which you run, There are also hardware and serial number differences to check but I don't remember them. This is from memory as it has been some time since I messed around with a PSP but I like to think I still know my stuff. Oh and in case anyone is wondering what CFW I use on my systems then I run 6.61 ME on my 1k and 2k with 6.61 LME for my 3k.
Thanks got it working. It shows a custom FW when I check system and I can run 2600 games. I am having devil of time running Vectrex emulator, it may be that the emulator is old and doesn't work on 6.x CFW? Intellivision emulator runs but it's a bitch to play most games without the number pad :/
