    Hey All,

I know I haven't been the most active member here lately, but photography has taken much of the time in my life that I used to dedicate to gaming.

To that end, I have just launch a book today:

80 pages of the very best images I've taken over the past three years, with all of my thoughts and ideas behind them. Check it out! If you've been a fan of my photography (been posting some in one of the off-topic threads), maybe leave a comment! If you're in love with my photography, then maybe buy a copy :)

Check it out here or by clicking the image above..

Seriously though, what are your honest opinions of an endeavour such as this? Feedback is most welcome! I've worked hard on it, and it symbolizes a step into photography as a career.

    Thanks all!

That's a pretty big achievement! Well done! I assume it's self-published? A risky endeavour, but certainly worth a shot.

    As for the career thing....

There are a lot of 'bedroom' photographers out there who'll do it on the weekend to make a fast buck. They'll go on about how professionals are a rip-off and they can do it for cheaper. They're not thinking about all the overheads the professionals have. DON'T be one of these. However, if you want to venture into it full time, I certainly think you have some amazing work and could make a good go of it. If you want to do portraits or weddings, it's all about location. Other stuff is mostly luck, who you know and getting your foot in the door.

I asked my friend, a professional photographer, what makes someone a professional photographer. His answer was, "A professional photographer is one who takes photographs for a full time living. It is their sole source of income."

If you want to do that, great - go for it!

    Thanks Retro!

I am also teaching photography at two local college campuses, courses like Photoshop for Photographers, Nature & Landscape Photography, Product Photography, etc... they don't pay much, but it certainly adds up with other sources.

I find that the harder I work, the luckier I become. :)

    Good philosophy!

I'm sure the teaching will look good on the resume if you're looking to get into something more prestigious. Even if you want to do something freelance, it's an extra bit of income if you can do the two together.
