Like the title says I have a JVC x'eye it power on but it only gives a black screen. With a cart inserted black screen and without the cart the cd bios wont boot. The console is clean and so is the cart slot. I open it and the caps look fine no leak in any of them and I cant observe any abnormality on the board.

What could it be? normally the only common failure known is the cd but not the cart side.

I don't have the original power supply I'm using one 9.5v 850ma positive center polarity.

I read of X'Eye going bad because they use wrong power supply. Basically, it needs a 9.5VDC 1.2A(1200mA) power supply to run correctly.

This one I got it like this I don't know if the last user use a genesis 2 power all the time or the original one, I have another Psu that I can change the voltage from radioshack that give me 1.6A but I dont know if that is too high amperage for the console.

The console will draw current that it needs. So 1.6A is fine. 850mA was not enough for it draw from. But then the previous order could have kill it with the wrong power supply.

nah, you cant kill anything with current thats too low. Yeah, it sounds like the wrong PSU was used. Check polarity as well and order a 9v power supply with at least 1.6A.
