Recently purchased a jvc on ebay, disks work great, just finished lunar, had a blast playing it 20yrs later. Anyway; disks work 100% no issues, but i cant seem to get any of my genesis carts to work. Its not the carts themselves because they work fine on my model 1&3. I managed to get sonic 2 to boot once but all the other either display a blackscreen or go right to the jvc disk bios. Any feeback is much appreciated, thanks asmg!
Wow, that's an uncommon issue. The reason is the CD portion uses more data and address lines off the bus than any cartridge. So if you had a bad connection with any chip that wouldn't work. It sounds like your issue is most definitely a connection between the cartridge slot and the outputs of the address and data lines. If you're lucky, it may just be a dirty card slot. Anyway I would beep test and trace out the connections to the cartridge.
