So for $14.99 I can get a sorta beaten up x'eye.
It lacks all but the console and I don't know if it runs.
    Is this worth it?

Hope someone can let me know.
I would have to pick it up in like, 5 hours from now...

Huh. According to the so called "ultimate console database" they sell for $400. Riiiight.
More like $87 on ebay working with all connections and a bunch of games.

Dude. I like that site but now its credibility is very suspect.

Personally for $14.99 I would buy it, even if its broken its a nice cheap project to get it fixed.

The same thrift store has beaten up genesis consoles. Maybe I can test to see if its working with cobbled together parts. If it ain't working I have zero interest. I am not an "open up and solder" sort of guy.

I'm not sure what cables you need with it, if it's standard Genesis stuff you should have no problems..

For 14 bucks, even if you just take the risk (test it with universal power supply etc) and it doesn't work, you still have a cool console to look at, keep your books in place etc

For $14 you could easily turn around and sell it for more as parts.

*I'm telling you should go for it if you find super cheap consoles labeled as broken. At this large video game store in Hollywood I bought three different consoles they had that were all listed as broken, a blue see-through N64, a Genesis model 1, and a SNES. Get home, try them all out, and guess what?

The SNES is the only one that didn't work, the other consoles booted right up into some Wave Race and Shining Force III! I guess they didn't bother to test them all out... but why label them broken in the first place?

*This comment in no way tells you that if you buy a console labeled as broken it will work ;-)*

You'll kick yourself if you don't buy it, I was at thrift store here and passed on a genesis one with a 32x that had all the cables including the conversion cable for $14. Went back the next week and it was gone, kicking myself for not getting.

I would pick it up. but then again I do like soldering so having to fix it wouldn't bother me. great price either way.

The X'Eye has composite and stereo connections in the rear that you can use virtually any cable on and I believe it can use a model 1 Genesis power cable just fine.

I did buy one off eBay that was "broken". Turned out the lid sensor was shot and couldn't be pressed down by the lid enough for the thing to register. Super glue fixed it until I found a replacement to solder in.
