Greetings everybody, long-time listener and first time caller or should I say reader? So a long time ago I got an X'EYE at the flea market for $5.00. I took it home and noticed it didn't power on (I used the ac adapter from my other X'EYE). I got no lights or anything when attempting to power on but I did notice the cd lens would rise up for a moment and then go back down. I took the system apart and it was filthy, there were dead roaches and blown capacitors and resistors. I replaced everything I saw (I'm not a pro here) but once reassembled the system did the same thing. I'm guessing the last thing would be to replace the fuse but I don't know the location. I know the Sega CD 2 had similar issues with the fuse but I figured if that were the case, it would only take down half the system since there are two boards. Hopefully somebody can give me some insight or if anybody does repairs for a reasonable cost, I'd greatly appreciate it.

DAS ME! I am your guy! I am a massive X'Eye fan. You should join the "Club X'Eye" group on Facebook. I am on there with a lot of other X'Eye owners.

Uhh, your problem? Think its the fuse or maybe you bridged some contact points on accident while fixing it. Give me a little and I can look for a fuse.

Okay, I got around to taking the X'EYE apart. Thanks for the add supersega! I did some closeups of the work I did (don't laugh, ten years ago). I figured this would give you guys an idea of what I have to work with. The interior doesn't look so great but trust me, it was AWFUL when I first got it, cleaning, painting, and sanding got it to where it is now. Anyways:[IMG]

I could have sworn the images were better, maybe it's the compression from Imageshack. :\ Anyways, hope this gives somebody a good idea. I'm also going to have to start a thread on fixing my Sega CD2 (replaced the fuse, no luck) and a spare CDX that I have (powers on but no activity from CD). Anyways, thanks for any help and pointers!

Already see an issue in the 3rd image. One of those pins look like the via was ripped off the board, and another looks partially.

Edit: Looking further they all look destroyed and just have blobs of solder on them. Gonna need to jump some traces.

That one doesn't look so bad.... Compared to the one I was sent at least.

Yeah, that's really annoying, I checked my camera to make sure it wasn't blurry but lo and behold it was when blown up. I may have to retake the pictures so you guys can see everything clearly.

Bright light would help a lot. A good strong bench light or something aimed at the board would allow camera to use faster shutter speed and less chance of blurry image. This is especially useful if your camera has sucky flash or no flash.

Now this is a little beyond me, lol. I still haven't had a chance to open my X'Eye and look at some it and see if I can find any differences. I'll try either this Friday or Saturday, depending on if school is cancelled, lol.

Okay, I took a whole bunch of pictures with more light and an awesome camera and it still looks like crap! This is so frustrating. I'm making sure I'm not shaking or anything when I take the pictures as well. Is the compression killing it? I checked the pics and while some are blurry, when I check it on my PC it looks better. I don't know if the direct links will work better:

I don't think it is compression. I think the shots are just blurry. The shutter is open too long - there is motion blur. Even if you have a steady hand, you can't compensate for low level lighting unless you use a tripod. You could try shooting again with better lighting or take the shots in natural light when the sun is up.
