Kanji I've never needed to use before...

I don't know about you but I'd use this - 糞 Probably not what you're after though.

Is this a serious question? I've only seen the Katakana "クラッシュ" used for that.

 

Does a kanji for computer crash really exist? Wouldn't it be something like コンピューターつるす？

I would go for the katakana version of crash, but to explain what a crash is you might use more japanese words: eg: 破綻

クラッシュ　（くらっしゅ）
... プログラムの実行が元々の目的を大きく離れ、破綻した状態のこと。

If you have to use a kanji, go w/ good old fashioned: 故障 which just means broken down. If you want crash, it's just クラッシュ.

 

There's two more:

機能停止 (suspension or hang-up of functions)
システム破壊 ((more permanent) system crash)

 

Except they're a little too descriptive unless you're writing a manual... or of course, writing the dialogue to an overly cliche' anime.

 

Ah, yeah. If it's somewhat formal then you might want to try some of the others.

I began learning japanese... two months ago or so. I have a Japanese teacher so I may ask. In engineering schools, they must know how to tell it.

Just a stupid question : why do need that?
