i can't draw, so for some reasons i started to color sketches... i'd like some feedback from you guys and if you have a good sketch colored i can give it a shot as a training since i've got back the graphic tabley i gave a friend long ago i started traying to use it... what do you think of this? on the left my coloring, on the right the original sketch stolen from deviantart. (The actual file is way bigger)
The left mostly looks good to me, but I don't like the eyes or the tip of the scarf by the hair - too bright and solid IMO, maybe even the whole thing could be a shade darker but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder so.
good suggestions. i hear to all to get better concerning the scarf it looks too "plain"? what would you suggest for the eye?
I wouldn't say the scart looks to plain, more that the colour is too vibrant like the new ASSEMbler red - the old ASSEMbler red is nicer As for the eye do darker shading around the edged perhaps (like your shadows on the scarf) but brighter / more intense around the middle?
I guess you meant something like this? i made the "scarf" more in tune, added some depth to the eye and a menacing pupils watching YOU! also adding here another coloring test i made... this time on a completely clean image. i feel i perform better with real sketches. As usual, comment! all of you not just legit
Loving the chick, but as Legit has mentioned some things just feel over the top vibrant for the style they are drawn in. I would re-color the dress, but the coloring for her hair/eyes/skin is perfect.
Impressive. Reminds me of when I used to see credits in various media for just "Colorist" Are those even around anymore?
I remember thinking it was a big deal when my best friend's older sister could stay inside the lines while coloring.
I remember straying out of the lines on a Lamb Chop coloring page from something and getting really upset and throwing it away.
Funny how i was thinking about the same thing yesterday something like "well i'm doing what i used to do as a child, but with a pc"
another color work... this ones i like a lot. And from one of the games i liked the most in the last times.
I like some of the coloring work fans have done to To-LOVE-Ru... but I can't post the pics here because they're a bit too sexy. But they are great examples of coloring from images that were originally meant to be in B&W.
Consider the setting the character in the drawing will be in. If you're coloring in a sketch with no other background imagery, imagine the lighting as if they were standing in a bright white room. Also tone down your color saturation some and blend all your colors toward each other
i expected the color flodding from the light to be evident enough like on the lady's hood and dress and even on the cavern's wall... you mean i should just use wider gamma color?
