As unpopular of a view as this may be, I actually agree with what is going on. I think online play is NOT needed as I personally care more for single player gaming than multiplayer. The only multiplayer I enjoy is multiplayer on an arcade unit. I guess its just me, but multiplayer or online play doesn't add anything to a game. I am very glad sony isn't givin into the whole online game crap and is still persuing things the way M$ does. This is why I still support sony. The whole online game stuff just isnt my cuppa tea is all. I hope his decision to leave sony wasn't a mistake though.
present generation is pure crap, plain and simple, only sequels and sequels made to take profit and being all of them except 3 or 4 VERY irrelevant (sega, sony, nintendo, microsoft...) sony is starting to remind me to another company... oh my god...with the hd-dvd and the 3 red lights thing, sony already got microsoft, but if FF is delayed to 2010 and this shit going on,..haha! sony will REPENT for not being merciless in a moment like that... time to time..
I wouldn't say the present generation is pure crap. The Wii got Super Mario Galaxy, which, really, is the "true" sequel to Mario 64. In my opinion, SMG was far better than SM64 even. On the Xbox360 side we got Bioshock, which, while short, was a very good game. We also got Lost Odyssey which is easily the best thing Sakaguchi has done since Final Fantasy VI (and one of the best JRPGs to come out since FFVI). Also, hate as much as you like, but Gears of War and Halo 3 ARE, fun games. And Too Human is looking really neat. Also, we're getting Tales of Vesparia this year and Infinite Undiscovery at some point as well. To be perfectly honest, the Wii60 crowd is probably very content with the current generation. Especially the shmuppers now that Ketsui and DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou Black Label have been announced for the Xbox360.
The main fear now is spending $400-ish on a JP Xbox to have it red ring you. If you have a contact in Japan, you can get it fixed to the tune of $60 or so shipping each way.
I support sony because out of the 3 current companies making hardware, the Playstation 2 has the games I enjoy and will buy. They have the Sega Ages 2500 series games which I love, as well as a GREAT list of RPG's and shmups/Fighters(arcade based games). For those reasons I buy Playstation hardware..that is how I figure I support sony. IF sega were still in the hardware buisness, you can be sure i'd own their system and not Sony's.
