Hiya! after looking at the other member's collections I decided to share my pc DOS collection , mostly there are DOS titles but there are some early windows ones inside and the random newer title that got mixed in the storage... All my games are complete with all trinkets and gifts inside, I miss the days when you where getting a game and it was full of coins, maps and other stuff :love-struck: Well , excuse the lame background sheet (couldn't find a better one in the storage lol) and enjoy!
Absolutely incredible. I have no words to express my admiration about your collection. It´s a piece of art. I love it.
Thanks both of you for your kind words I wish I could expand it more though, damn that bloody economy crisis
You have some top titles there that bring back memories when I had used to work at a computer store in the early 90s.
I have a bunch of old big box dos games in my basement. Mortal Kombat I, II, III, Need for Speed, Whiplash, Aces of the Pacific, Stunts, and a bunch of others. I remember when the medium size boxes started coming out in the late 90s for stuff like Microsoft Combat flight Sim 2. I saw them and was like - "oh this makes sense, why did people make those big boxes for so long!" Definitely nostalgic for the big boxes though, it was cool to have some nice large artwork and screenshots on the box.
Wow, great collection! Thanks for sharing! I used to work in retail and have frequented game shops for the past 20 years or more. However, I haven't even seen half of those AD&D games! Well worth holding on to those! Keep an eye out and you'll probably see some going cheap every now and then. Do you have charity shops and boot fairs? A couple of years ago, I saw a very large collection of mostly RPG big box PC games in a charity shop, but passed on them because they were £3 each - d'oh! Much later, I bought the leftovers in a sale for 50p each Other than those, my PC bog box collection is meagre - mostly games I used to have back in the day or games I've tracked down. I recall Worms United coming with our family's first PC. It took me several years to track down copies of Daggerfall, Virus and Ace Ventura, though! It's so rewarding actually finding these games after such a long time... especially if you can pick them up dirt cheap! Back when I worked in the shop, we had all the Sim games in at one point (Sim Ant, Sim Farm, Sim Life etc.) - wish I'd picked those up! Oh, and one of my prized items is my sealed copy of Hitman 2. OK, it isn't big box, but we pre-ordered it at the first shop I worked at, and the distributor sent us a recall notice regarding the Sikhs in the temple. I managed to keep a copy. I don't know if there's a way to identify a first pressing when it's sealed, but I know that what I have is a copy with the Sikh killing still in it! Do you have many of these games installed on a PC?
thanks for the kind words again, glad you like my humble collection @retro: 70% of the games were eBay purchases , it proved quite an expensive hobby for someone wanting complete and good condition games LOL We don't have charity/boot sales here, at least not in my town... and I got all of those games installed, they mean nothing if you don't play them , that's why I keep some retroPC builds around, from 386sx to pentium1... I have also spent a good amount for sound hardware for them, if you can't hear the Roland LAPC-I goodness you are missing half the fun! :congratulatory::congratulatory::congratulatory:
Just great collection! Thanks for sharing! I think I wouldn't be able to find games like that where I live too, especially good condition ones.
Nice, big box PC games had pretty much the best packaging ever. I have a ton of them, maybe one day I'll post pictures of some...
Tons of memories and tons of great artwork. Just awesome! I probably spent a good 10 mins or so just scrolling through this thread and enjoying each cover and thinking back on the time I've spent playing some of these great games. Thanks for sharing!
yep, the boxes themselves are small pieces of art... also the extras were awesome too, here are some random ancient pics that I found
