I have a large amount of keyboards (not laptop ones normal ps/2 ones)

The have the spacebar problem where the sides of it press it but unless you hit it directly centre it wont register so basically the sides just flap about. How can i repair this?

Did you take a look at the clams at both sides of the bottom? I've never heard of that problem to be honest, I could only imagine the clams got loose.

Oh no! The clams are loose!

I think you meant clamps ;-)

A space bar usually has one (centre) or two (left and right) tubes that go into the keyboard base. It then has a bar that keeps it level. This should clip in either side. My bet is that it has come loose. There with often be one or two springs, too.

Here's a pic (I found it online, this is NOT my skanky keyboard!)

The tubes go in those holes, at the same time aligning the two ends of the metal bar with those hooks either side.

If anything is broken off, it's screwed - don't bother with it. You can get a new one for like $5!

retro's right, check the clips and you should be sorted, and he's also right that if there's broken plastic then you're fucked. 90% of the time it's just a case of figuring out what goes where and then fiddling with it until it all slots into place. I couldn't count the number of keyboards I've "fixed" like this.

If it's as skanky as that picture I posted, though, it's not worth it - especially if that's someone else's gunk! :-(

I washed it in a bath before I attempted anything :).

To add a little to the way it works its has three sides and has a little bit where the 3 sides end that curve in. These appear to have broken off on mine. Needless to say it still works without and Ill either keep them for parts or sell them with crap machines
