SNK of 10+ years ago maybe, They are a shadow of their former self. KOFXII isn't finished and they shouldn't have released it in this state.
I agree that SNK 10+ years ago made better fighters than Capcom (you know, because they actually changed stuff between KOF iterations and came up with more creative characters than "Evil Ryu"), but nowadays not so much. Still, it wouldn't sound right to have Capcom making SNK fighters.
I wouldn't trust Sega with SNK. So Capcom seems the only fit, I don't trust Konami either they are one of the few companies to still keep some games in Japan for no good reason. Who else could give SNK games the proper care they need? Only Capcom I think.
It's a good job you're not a defence lawyer. 2k2 and 2k3 are great KoF games, even though not the best KoF games. Just like SF3 was a great series but not the best series. XI was not great. XII only just got released and with completely redrawn sprites. You guys are going off the deep end somewhat, but then this is the Internet.
I agree that 2k2 was a good KOF game (though as a "dream match" game nowhere near as good as '98, especially since the NESTS saga introduced some pretty boring characters, anytime a developer has to go the "evil clone" route it means they're fresh out of ideas), but 2k3, Neowave and XI were all pretty bleh.
But SNK didn't make KOF 2001-2002 a korean company Eolith did. KOF XI was very MEH I actually can't think of a REALLY GOOD SNK game made since they came back from the dead. The Japanese reissues of old neo games with the arrange soundtracks though? ACE! OH yeah KOF MI 2 was good
Regradless if its feature rich or not.. i'll probably buy it once it hits the bargin bin... seem like SNK games usually end up there in my area..
If any of the game stores round here actually get the game I'm sure it'll be heavily discounted within 6 weeks. Just like Guilty Gear for the Wii. If it really is as bad as everyone is claming I'd actually feel bad spending any money and supporting SNK's dire effort. It really is a shame to see a company with such a rich history reduced to the state it's in.
Man, the fanboys are going crazy on forums defending this half-assed attempt I thought about getting this game, but at most I'm gonna wait for a very heavy discount, since judging from the reviews it's turned out to be just as bad as I feared. If the online play is practically broken and single player very anemic, there just ain't much reason to pay full price.
Someone hacked the 360 version and found references to other fighters not in the game, so hopefully down the line we'll see DLC with some extra content. I actually have been playing this more lately and am enjoying it more for its animation and great fighting engine. Unlocking the gallery art has been a challenge since you have to beat the game using only one character for all five rounds which is tougher then it sounds. I am curious though how they could spend four years making this game and not put in a story mode or even a simple survival mode. I guess they felt that the new character animations were enough.
Link? I LOVE making fun of the SNK fanboys. Neo-Geo.com has the BIGGEST concentration of assholes on the internet.
Just go to just about any game forum and you'll find someone defending the game. As you said neo-geo.com is a good place, and for fun I checked the GameFAQs board too and it was even worse than usual with the people who need to justify buying disappointing games
But it's the trolling of others...from another forum....voted worst on the net. But I found nothing quoteable
