I think its called Chrono Trigger Ressurection or something. It was a VERY good looking and promising 3-d remake of Chrono Trigger. Square found out about it, and gave them a cease and desist letter to stop making it. So sad...
That's really impressive, I can't blame Square for stopping them however, it would have probably humilated them.
I could see no longer posting updates on your project , but to give it up alltgether is just unbelievable . Just make it and leak it to the p2p community . Do you know if he is still developing it in his spare time ??
If they arent making a profit, I dont see why Sqaure would be so bitchy about it. Maybe THEY already have a CT remake in the oven. Im a little surprised that Sqaure didnt buy the game from them, since its such a good idea...
Every time i hear about one of these fan made projects, i don't understand why they don't just change the name, swap out some of the art and keep going...
IIRC, Square got pissy when someone from the project tried to sell the idea to Square. If you're making a fan project, great. Have at it. But don't try to make it and then expect money from the rights holder. -hl718
The team continues crono but only privatly. The team is moving on to a new project soon (one I am probably going to be on). hl718, Not sure where you got that from. I am very close friends with the coder. He never did or would have done that. It's flat out just shut down because it uses a squaresoft IP. This is not something new. A guy who was making a halo mod for my 3d homebrew psp shooter iris was sent an email by the high ups at bungie telling him he needs to stop work on it. Again nothing was even released.
i don't understand it. There are dozens of Sonic fan games and Sega never tells any of them to stop. I mean, what harm can be done? BTW, I love fan games. Anyone know of any others out there other than Sonic?
in such projects my idea is, develop until it's finished, and the release throught p2p and bittorrent at the same time. after 2 hours it's all over the world and it's too late for cease and desists letters
