Hi guys, first time poster. I have one of these as well, it came with my PS1 kiosk when I got it. It's a later model (5501) but I can't really figure out what that back connector is for...The only thing I can think of was it being hooked up to a timer that would supply a small current to it to keep it running and then cycle off after a period of time to reset the playstation.

Inside the kiosk I can't find the connector anywhere though, and it doesn't appear to me as if anything is immediately missing.

If you want you can take out the screwes on the bottom and remove the top case.
Take a picture then and then we`ll know more.

    Oh and welcome

I can do that, I figured I would have to at some point anyways! I'll show pictures of the disassembly if I come across any other non-standard equipment.

Long time ago one of my 1st jobs was clearing out a warehouse for a company who made the Amiga CD32 kiosks. They made several hundred of them were but were never paid for. They had consoles and games for each one. All got trashed.

That is very saddening...I would've tried to nab one lol.

Here are the pics of the inside of this thing, I hate to disappoint but it's really all standard lol

    Cover off
    No metal plate
    Under Power Board

I couldn't get a close pic to focus where the flash didn't ruin the picture. It's soldered to an area where it says SW02 which you can see by enlarging the last picture

This story seriously made me depressed for a few minutes.. But that may also have something to do with my drinking.

    What a shame really.

I think the ps1 should run fine without the connector hooked up.
Its defanitly a reset switch extention.
Maybe your power supply is busted ?

Anyway thanks for the great pictures of the inside !

On the PSU board some contacts have a odd green fluid which looks to have leaked. Would suggest dead caps. Replace those.
