If you unban him, then what's the point of banning him in the first place? Also, not much is stopping him from learning his manners and coming back under a new alias.
This. If he misbehaved enough to get banned, at least make him work for a bit (redo his profile settings, thread subscriptions, etc.). (If he does have any custom titles or whatever, maybe copy them over after a grace period...?)
There should be a set rule. If we don't stick to the general rule of banning, then there's bound to be more of these exceptions in the future, which may or may not harm the site. if it's not a temporary ban, it's not meant to be temporary. He's more than welcome to come back under a new name, which has been mentioned, so long as the attitude is checked.
He was obnoxious, a little too eager to fit in by posting just for the sake of being part of the convo, but everyone deserves another chance. If it happens again it's not that difficult to just deal with it, anyway.
Yakumo said it was a 2 day time out - surely that's a temporary ban? Or has he done something again since? If he's going to be more polite, no problem. Still, it's weird how the person who was all in favour of an IRC room was the one slagging people off in the chat!
It seems that the opinions are based on what you saw, then. Someone quickly make a complete list of everything he did that is "bannable" material. That way everyone's on the same page.
He couldn't behave in the first place. Why should we give second chances to people who don't have even the slightest common courtesy in the first place?
He was on a temp ban for 2 days originally but the decision was changed for other reasons. The original 2 day ban was due to him annoying quite a few members who complained about him via PMs and well, basically trolling the site with gamefaq like posts. Not what we want here from any member. Sure, he can come back under a new name. That's not a problem but if his style of posting doesn't change he'll probably get banned again. We really want to keep this place more organized and grown up.

Hmm yeah, I don't appreciate racism on the forum, and I'm sure everyone is the same. If he's going to be a bit more serious and mature, I don't see a problem with him staying... although perhaps I don't know the full facts.
I didnt mind the South African comment he made, but what got me was he upset was he started antagonizing another member in the non-moderated thread, and it spilled over to just about every post he made there after,and eventually lead to him spamming on purpose :/ ,opening just about every reply with "But xyz is ignoring me, and cant see this post" If the mods want to unban him, I dont mind, but generally I think rules are there to be in forced, and lots of members asked him to stop before I started posting and he made that comment. Edit: PS I was allso a bit immature towards him and that could have led to his reply...
I told him to clean up his act. His childish slurs where annoying the shit out of me. Even if he was unbanned I wouldn't remove him from my ignore list. I'm sure many others have him on their ignore list too, he promised to fix his posts up before he was banned and he continued. All honesty I don't mind if he's unbanned, as long as he treats everyone equally, I mean he didn't do anything horrible, just he was difficult to take seriously and posting continuous bullshit to increase his post count.
