Hey Everyone, I have an old Celeron machine with big crummy computer case. I was planning to whip out some Knex and make a computer case out of that. But one thing I was thinking about is that because knex isn't solid, dust must accumulate on everything much faster than an enclosed machine. Any ideas if it's possible to avoid this? I guess given the fact that knex isn't completely sealable like Lego is, there isn't much options? Asside from buying a real case! (^_^);
K'nex are actually quite solid if you know simple architecture. My friend built a shelving system for his consoles using them.
Yep, thats why I want to use them over Legos or someting that would brake really easily. It's just my place is a dust magnet so I could picture my Mobo being covered in a layer of dust after a while of being open-air cased like that. I was thinking about some ideas, like hanging the board upside down so dust would accumulate on the underside and not the top, as well as other strange ideas, but nothing strikes me as being very viable yet. Unless constant air flow to keep dust from settling is the key.
Could you build it out of k'nex, and then maybe use clear plexiglass as a sort of siding that you can mount over it. That way you get the k'nex look and case, but you protect it all from dust and grime.
