Hmm. I recall only getting the "No way...." message when connecting anything other than Sonic 2 or Sonic 3. Perhaps I should check again...
You have to press *I THINK* ABC+Start at that "No way..." screen and then you'll get a random version of one of the S+K mini-games where you're walking around on the surface of a sphere picking up blue spheres and avoiding red ones. It's actually a pretty cool mini-game and there seems to be a different version for every single Genesis cart you plug in (possibly generated from the CRC or some other unique number generating algorithm?). This hack looks pretty amazing, I'll have to try it. Speaking of hacks of such mascot games, I recently bought a laptop (after not having any computer at all for the past few years) and one of the first things I did was get an NES emulator and copy over a bunch of the Super Mario Bros. 1 hacks from my Dreamcast emulators disc. Some of those SMB1 hacks are really incredibly fun. SMB is such a perfect platformer engine, it's just really nice to have additional levels to play with it. And some of them have some really cool additions. Like check out Luigi & The Christmas Quest, it's probably the most complete hack there is (only the music remains the same really, though there are one or two hacks that even change the music a bit). http://acmlm.overclocked.org/hacks/hacklist.php?id=1 There's a *LOT* more good hack than can be found on that site, though. ...word is bondage...
yep. I found a modded SMB rom that was souped up to make it even harder than that lost levels game that was on the Mario All Stars on SNES. That game was hell hard until you started doing all the showboat stuff you used to do in SMB1 just to show off.
