I put the Tokimeki Memorial Selection Saturn disc in to my PC today just out of interest to see if there were any extras. I was pleasently surprised to see the following txt in English & Japanese (Japanese section not shown since 99% of you can't read it anyway)

    Bibliography:
TOKIMEKI MEMORIAL forever with you (for SEGA SATURN)

    Abstract:
This software features "Fujisaki Shiori" who is a main character
in "Tokimeki Memorial forever with you" for her fans.
    Menu is :
    music vedeo clip
    Atchimuite hoi!
    vertual date
    portrait collection
    voice collection
    "Shuttle Mouse" is available.

It seems that Konami want non-Japanese players to play their games otherwise why bother writing English information as well as translation of the menu system?

The OMAKE (Extras) on thedisc for PC are a few BMP files and two music files that are featured on the game when you play it on a Saturn. Unfortunately, Konami have gave us really piss poor FMV to watch on the PV while the Saturn files are much better quality. So I decided to rip the Saturn files then convert them to run on the PC. End result is much higher resolution music videos. 10x better than what Konami offered. Take a look at a few screen grabs I did while converting the videos. they are very well done mixing live action backgrounds with anime.

Now take a look at these following two images. The one on the left is my saturn rip running on the PC while the one on the right are the original Konami files for PC.

You can download the videos from my FTP. Use the Segagaga login. If you don't know it you can find it on my site under the movies section.

I wanted to send this to you via ICQ so you could wipe the floor with my japanese because its probably not accurate at all., not only that but its not done, but I wanted to express my appreciation for what you did so I started making subtitles, japanese romanji and english romanticized. Didnt get too far though:

That's actually very good Purge. Did you get that Japanese from just listening to the song? If so, then you did a very good job. It's perfect ! May I suggest that you change the following line by adding a Space before the word I've coloured red.

Dialogue: Marked=0,0:00:40.81,0:00:42.76,Default,NTP,0000,0000,0000,!Effect,Inside of the wind\Nsoyokaze mo

Is that sheet that you made for use with Virtual Dub? I could never understand how the subtitles worked on that.

Really? Thank you for the compliments, I didn't know how close I was to the original intent and I didn't want to botch it up. I just sat down and took my dictionary and racked my brain for a bit. The sheet will work great with virtual dub and I'd be happy to teach you all about the subtitling process if you wanted to apply the subtitles to the raw truemotion video and re-encode, or maybe we could stick it in as an optional stream. I made the changes you wanted but I still feel very uncomfortable just using my dictionary as my only source of information. If you have time, do you think you might be able to provide me with a rough outline of what the rest of the song is supposed to be about, just in case I mis-interpret something. Heres a contructed image (I couldn't screenshot the overlay so I frame captured and rendered the scene by hand) of what the finished project should look like:

Looks good. is it possible to have the English and Japanese text in different colours? I don't have much time now in the week days but I may be alble to translate the whole song this week end but to be honest it will be the very first translation I've ever done. Actually, if you don't mind I'd rather translate the Kaze song because I like that more :-D

PS: Yes, please teach me about the Subtitles because I plan to do an interview with some japanese Hard Off staff and would like tro subtitle it since it will be impossible for me to speak English to them and would sound (and I'd feel) pretty stupid saying something in English then Japanese then repeat what they said in English.

Sure I'll do both songs for you, and yes colors can be done, but those are done AFTER the mapping, at least how I do it. You can even have kareoke style subititles if you want, though you need another plugin or seperate program for that.

Cool! I wonder how they'll react to a gaijin (well, that's what you look like) coming to interview them :)

I've translated the entire song in to ROMANJI which wasn't easy because the voice sounds different than what is being said. I've also done a rough translation of the 1st verse and choras. Take a look (Need Japanese language suport to see the Japanese). The English translation is quite poor. I'm sure Gaijin Punch will have a good laugh :smt043 He's much better than me at translating.

Tokimeki is like half a handjob. Might as well just go play porn games and get it over with.

When I was mapping it out I found a few discrepencies with words I found in my dictionary. I'll attempt to merge both works and you can make any nessecary additional changes. Also please note I'm going for singablility in the english translation, some stuff will be SLIGHTLY changed but its meaning should remain unchanged. If theres a drastic problem I'll post about it.

When I brought this up before, yes. I can even re-encode back to the saturn movie format and place that back on the disc should I choose. I still prefer to have another translate the japanese though, as mine just sucks.
