I find surprisingly little information about this system- based on its architectural similarities to PS hardware, has there been any success/or even attempts to get retail/dev PS targeted code to run on it? I'm curious how the boot sequence works, and am of the impression that there is no system dash, instead, the PSX exe loads off the rom cart, and media is loaded off the optical. Anyone have experience with one of these?
http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=582 It's CD-based with a ROM key... unless you mean the digital bemani boards... they're a bit different. The answer to your question about running games... when did decent PSX emulators come out? And what about decent 573 emulation in MAME? If they were that easy to port, the emulation would most likely have been done at the same time. I seem to remember Sophia having something to do with the dev setup for System 573...
i have a couple pf 573 games, unfortuntely there wasnt much good on this system imo. Only think that was fun and cute is the baseball. I have Pro Evo 2002 Arcade, thats on a konami Pyson system (based on PS2) and has all the running gear of the Namco System 246. Also has built in jamma and JVS. Now that is a good system!!
Yeah, I've moved onto 246/256... on the topic of 573 however.. I wouldn't mind getting a system for the ddr series, but i hear that one SPECIFICALLY needs one with digital audio support.. is this upgradable/adaptable, or is one stuck paying the insane prices for ddr pcbs when fishing pcbs are being thrown away practically?
