My thought is it’s a tad expensive, although I haven’t had a chance to really get into the sega systems yet(besides Dreamcast) so maybe this is a god send to sega enthusiasts. It’s definetly neat.
My question is, is the SMS compatibility the same as a normal Genesis controller or is it a mode designed for the SMS? There are SMS games that don't support the Genesis controller. Would buy one instantly if it works like a real SMS controller on the SMS. That aside, I may get one for the Genesis once I start seeing some reviews but I'll wait for a price drop or sale.
Considering it's Krikzz, he's probably taking orders and manufacturing them by hand, one at a time, so I wouldn't bet he'll ever put them on sale. That said, I'm always looking forward to well made new controllers to old systems, because the older controllers are obviously getting more rare to find in good condition (and you never know where they've been) and most options are piss poor controllers from AliWish.
I'm a big fan of his work, but I've also been bitten multiple times from being an early adopter of his releases, I'll wait for the 4th revision
he says right on the product page: 4. SMS controller mode: Hold for 3 sec. MODE+START+B. Required for some SMS games which is not compatible with genesis controllers.
I have also spoken to Krikkz about 8 bit pc compatibility, as megadrive 3/6 controllers also work on Atari XE and others...he recons that they are compatible, as they can function in the same exact manner as the original...freakin’ amazing! Wireless up a few of consoles/retro computers with these...wondering if they also would work on a mist fpga??
As soon as it is on sale, it is a buy for me! A wireless SMS controller that works with Genesis games would be perfect for my setup! If anyone buys this, please let me know how it is! That makes me wonder if he can program a special Atari 7800 mode for it. The joysticks we got here in the USA are an abomination! A wireless controller for that would be awesome!
