Thanks. Are you referring to my former setup or my current one?

Love that last picture, everything just sits so nicely in that part of the room.

I thought it was about time to do an update on my collection and setup. I've bought new stuff, reorganized stuff, and I'm in a new place. Some of these images have been altered slightly.

Here is my retro setup. Not much has changed, although the systems have been shifted around a little and there's now room for my supergun (which is connected to an MVS at the moment).

Here is my desktop setup, which I use for gaming as well as normal computer stuff. The desktop looks essentially the same externally as it has since 2010, but inside it has almost completely different guts.

    Specs:
Core i7-3770K 3.5Ghz "Ivy Bridge" processor
    Gigabyte Z77-D3H motherboard
    16GB DDR3
    GTX 780 3GB
    240GB SSD
    1TB HDD

You can also see my MacBook Pro, which is a Late-2013 Retina MBP. Very nice computer.

Here is my audio/video setup which I use mostly for Blu-rays and Netflix, but I also have a 360 connected to it. I was playing Dead Rising (the original) on the 360 the other day. It's a pretty fun game, although the dialogue is terrible - maybe intentionally. I have a PS3 too, but it's having problems at the moment.

This is my collection shelf. This is where most of my boxed games are stored. I've added quite a few since the last time I posted here.

Here are my current (last?) gen games. They're on a separate shelf because there wasn't enough room on the other shelf.

Here are my console boxes. One of them is a PS1 analog flight stick (Japanese version). They're empty, except for the Dreamcast box, which actually has a DC inside (I have 2 of them).

These are some of my carts. There are N64 carts, Genesis carts (including some of the bigger ones), 32X carts, and there's also a Saturn backup cart in there. I used to keep my carts in cardboard boxes, which is far from ideal. These plastic containers are a much better solution.

More carts. There's lots of empty space in this one, but that probably won't last for long. There are SNES carts, MVS carts, NES carts, and Super Famicom carts. There are a couple relatively valuable carts in there, although you can't really see in this photo - there's Earthbound, which I borrowed from a friend and intend to give back at some point, and Sutte Hakkun.

That's about it. I hope you enjoyed the photos. Let me know what you think.

I did a count of all of my games. I only did console games, so that doesn't include arcade, handheld, or PC games.

The total is: 408 console games.

The numbers for each system are as follows:

    MD: 1
    Genesis: 34
    Mega CD: 3
    Sega CD: 1
    32X: 11
    Saturn: 34
    DC: 44
    NES: 5
    SNES: 25
    SFC: 3
    N64: 43
    GC: 35
    Wii: 18
    PS1: 41
    PS2: 44
    PS3: 14
    Xbox: 29
    360: 21
    PC Engine: 2

The PS2 and DC are tied at 44 for most games per system, with the N64 just behind with 43.

    Cute stuff there!

I'm focusing in light wood furniture like your shelves. But still not nicely displayed for a collection topic. n.n

Yeah, I don't really play it much because I've had some issues with the PSU. I was using a different PSU with it for a while, but I realized that it was causing interference on the RGB leads of some of my other consoles. So I either need to find the original PSU (I'm not sure where it is), or buy another one that has the exact correct voltage and amperage. There's a Canon camera adapter that I think would work. Anyway, for the moment, it's just on display.

I took a couple pictures because why not?

Here's a picture of some (but not all) of my favorite games.

The games shown in this picture:

    Half Life
    Half Life 2
    The Orange Box
    Vectorman
    Wave Race 64
    Shenmue
    Shenmue II
    Virtua Fighter 2
    Dead or Alive
    F-Zero GX
    Zelda: Wind Waker
    Katamari Damacy
    Ico
    Metal Slug
    DOA2
    Crazy Taxi
    Crash Bandicoot 2
    Earthworm Jim 2
    Star Fox 64

Here's my attempt at a Genesis tower of doom, or whatever you want to call it. This is the best I can do with my current equipment. Theoretically there's no limit to how tall you could make it, if you just keep stacking 32Xs, Sonic & Knuckles carts, and Game Genies into infinity. Though at a certain point, you have to worry about the thing falling over.

Fun fact: if you actually power on the system in this state, the universe ceases to exist.

Weird. They seem to load fine on every device I've tried. Is anyone else having this problem?

I really love your setup, very selective, clean and tidy. Honestly to me that is true collecting. No offence to anyone but I honestly don't understand people gathering all those games in the name of collecting and never get to play them and when they do,it is only for 5 minutes to see if they work. The most funny part is that they post video of what they bought and ask to the viewers if it is any good or just say they never going to play. I can see the eye-candy or the wow-factor but other than that if you cannot have fun with them, then why hoarding and make your place look like if you held a game store. Anyway that was my little thought on it. By the way, your pictures work fine now. Very good selection of games. You sure have taste sir (ma'me sorry).

Thanks. Well, I may be guilty of some of the things you mentioned. I do play the majority of the games I own, but there are quite a few that I've never played - probably around 16 out of 410 or so. There are also quite a few games that I've only played for a few minutes, and then never again. I sometimes buy games because they're very cheap, and I think they're worth a try.

I'll be posting another picture here later. It's going to be a picture of my light gun collection.

Well, I'm also one of those persons that buy games to never play and only display them. I understand some people may not understand why I would do this.
I like to collect (buy) games that one day I may want to play. Sometimes, I just buy games that are cheap enough. Other times, I buy games for consoles that I really like, for example, I'm trying to go for the N64 and Vita fullset because the N64 was a childhood favorite and the Vita is an amazing console in my opinion. I know that I won't play every game that I own but I'm ok with it, I also like to look at my shelves and see everything that I got since I started collecting.

I also like to know that I have a bit of the videogames history and I know that I will keep it in good order. Recently, I'm wanting to make a game room that would have space for every game that I own right now (I have ran out of space in my bedroom). I would like to get some glass cabinets like some collectors have to make the room a bit like a small museum.

And la-li-lu-le-lo, the pics are showing now and I really want to see your light gun collection. I would like to have a few games to play with light gun controllers but they sadly don't work on LED TVs and I don't have a CRT TV.

I got some new games recently, so I decided to take a picture.

In case you can't tell, the games are Cyber Sled, Ridge Racer, What's Shenmue, and Hoshi no Kirby 64. These are all NTSC-J games. Ridge Racer is interesting because it was a launch game in Japan. In Ridge Racer, there are ads both in the game and in the manual for Cyber Sled, which you can also see in that photo. It's a coincidence I guess, or maybe the advertising is just so effective that it still works 20 years later.

I always wanted to know: What the fuck is Shenmue?! Now I finally know, thanks to What's シェンムー (Shenmue). Spoiler: it's a game.

I should be getting some more stuff in the mail soon too, including a Hori PlayStation controller, Out Run for Saturn, and a component to VGA converter.
