    Hey Guys

I'm checking out tickets back home. In order to use JAL/AA, which is where I have my miles, they only flight back they have lands at Narita at 10:35 PM. I can handle a night in Tokyo, I'd actually prefer it, but after immigration and getting my bags I'm assuming I won't be out of the airport until about 11:30 PM or midnight. Are they any travel options to getting into Tokyo at that time of night? My connecting flight back to Kyushu would be the next morning or afternoon.

I believe all of the buses are done by then. You'll have to rush to get the Keihin or spend 30,000 on a cab.

The cab fare won't be so bad if you go into Narita to get a hotel, or get a hotel near the airport.

Find a net cafe and wait until the trains start.

Why not stay at an airport hotel overnight?

I'll do that if I have to, but if I get what amounts to a free night in Tokyo it's going to suck spending it at a hotel right next to my airport then flying out the next day....

Well what are you planning on doing at 2am in Tokyo? Your options are: drink, go get a rub-n-tug (but many of them close at 2 or 3), or try to pick up a love companion.

The only shopping to be had is going to be at a convienence store.

As stated, those places don't exist in Narita. Last Skyliner is around 10:15, so pretty much SOL on this trip.

Wake up and not have to deal with travel early in the morning maybe?

Last local train is at 23:03 and if you can get that you can get to Akihabara at half midnight.

I kind of left out that part that it would be much nicer to visit a certain lady friend at night as opposed to a nice "day trip" heh.

Honestly, I think JAL/AA hates San Francisco. Flying out the departure is 12:40 AM. Coming back the arrival is 10:35 PM. It's like they're daring me not to take the ticket. But I just need one more ticket and then I have enough miles for a free one...decisions, decisions, decisions...

I don't know why you just don't use a JAL issued credit card. I' ve flew to Tokyo twice for free and my wife is using the rest of the points to fly to the UK and back for free. It only takes about 1.5 years of use to get enough points to fy to Europe and back for free. I use mine to pay for every thing from fule to food.

JAL flies SF to Haneda... look into that. You'll have to book through JAL though, I'm pretty sure.

I looked into JAL's HND to SFO but decided to pass on the $5,000 ticket price.

I took United. Flew from Fukuoka to Narita to SFO and back again. Nice connection times, I only had about a 90 minute layover both ways. I bought it last minute, like 6 hours before the flight. Got back last night. It was about $1,600, about the same as my last ticket with 6 weeks advance notice. Now I have about 25,000 miles with United/ANA and 40,000 miles with American/JAL. Good enough for 2 free tickets in the US, or after another 10,000 miles I get a free ticket from Japan to the US with American/JAL.

I have a JAL card but my limit is 200,000 yen a month and I can't make an early payment and you only get 1 mile per 200 yen and you don't always get it unless you ask for it and...heh. I have an American Airlines credit card that I use anyway.
