laptop disk drove wont burn disks

hey my hp dv9500 wont burn disks, not the biggest deal i have an ihas drive in an old pc i can just burn games on it, anyone know how to fix this?

 

Does it read discs? How far do you get in the burning process - does it recognize blank discs etc?

 

it reads them, when it was on vista i burned a copy of 7, now when i start in imgburn it gives me a bunch of errors

 

Check to see if there are any firmware updates available for it. I had the same problem some time back and updating the firmware on my drive fixed it.

 

i cant becuase it just shows up as a generic dvd drive

 

i found a microsoft tool that i can use to attempt to fix it

 

Have you googled the errors or tried another burner?

 

This has happened to my iMac SuperDrive (which is basically a slot loading laptop drive). It'll read but won't burn. Common fault in these smaller drives.

You should be able to pick up a new one for very little, should just slide out, they're pretty plug and play.

 

Mine stopped reading discs but could still burn. Had to replace it

 

Find the driver for it?

 

You should not burn images for consoles on slim drives anyway. I've seen multiple times that burn quality is lower on those (on DVDs at least). You can check Disc Quality with Nero DiscSpeed.
