I've got an old Sony Vaio running Windows 2000, it'd be annoying to have to run a long ethernet cable to my router. That and I'm running a WPA-only network. The average ancient wireless card isn't going to work. Any recommendations what model numbers to look into?

His issue is going to be drivers, as he's on Windows 2000. Some will probably work with the XP drivers - but others wont.

If you can get a netgear WG111 V2 USB dongle, that supports WPA and windows 2000, also pretty sure that the TP-Link TL-WN510G carbus card supports both windows 2000 and WPA, but the drivers are a bitch to configure because they're a bit buggy

The classic Intel IPW2200BG supports windows 2000 from what I remember, and I know it supports WPA.

I can't seem to find confirmation either way but I wonder if the old Orinoco Gold cards work with WPA. They were pretty popular for a while there for a while, particularly with Linux users.

True USB won't be a problem, neither is drivers on DVD. This system has both.
