I have a Laseractive that lately has been having issues with reading LDs. Discs will sometimes skip and more often then not it takes about 10 minutes to get it to read a particular disc. I'm guessing that it's the laser lens that needs cleaning but I have no idea on how to go about that. THanks in advance.

If the LaserActive can play audio CD's then try a lens cleaner disc. It worked on my LD player, but it's not a LaserActive.

I have a few laserdisc players and have had to clean lenses on some of them. Its usually very easy, just take the top of the case off, remove the central bar + spindle, locate the laser diode and clean it.

As others mentioned, run a CD Music cleaner disc in the player. Be sure the cleaner disc is in good shape, you don't need the pad or brushes coming off inside your player. You can also clean your discs with plastic polish.

Unfortunately Laser Rot cannot be repaired, an internal corrosion between the two sides caused by coolant during manufacture. You can tell a Laser Rot disc when the pic degrades with "scanlines" appearing or a snowy image. Normally the rotted Laser Discs won't skip, just display the downgraded pic.
