They have been lean times but I couldn't believe they have been active for 47 years Many, many hours have been spent here by me. Figure I might just stop by and pitch in a few quarters. Blurb One and Blurb Two During the 80's-90's there were 4-5 of them all in the same area. These were big ones too, like 6 networked cabs for racing. The full cab for Space Harrier etc... Here we go with photos sadly my Discs of Tron cab is no longer there.
If that's the case they'll be getting rid of those cabs. Nip down and ask! You never know, you might end up with a deal. Would love one myself, but I suspect the S&H to Europe would kill me lol
^ LOL. Damn, it sucks when stuff like that happens. If I were you I'd go and see if they're selling any of those arcades and take home as many as possible :110:
Why are western arcades still dark gloomy places? If they brightened them up with well laid out lighting so not to reflex off screens, they may just get a few more customers. Just wait for the next Retro Core to see a new Japanese arcade that just opened near work. Out Run SP with sit down hydroloic cars anyone?
I did ask and all are going up for auction. My main reason for going down there was to see if the still had the Discs of Tron cab because if they did I would have gotten serious. The FZero cab there has a card reader. Yakumo: I suspect it was to show the screen better and to uhm hide other "deals" going on ;-) GaijinPunch: That made me laugh
Let me know how your 'investigations' re auctions go. They might have some nice material lurking around. Spare boards or titles sitting in the back office.
Is the downfall of the arcade man, theres nothing you can do about it. You should keep your ears open for any cabinet sales/auctions:nod: If GoW/CoD4 were arcades...
Parris: I'll ask if there are any "boards" lying about anywhere. See if someone wants to make a fast buck ;-)
Actually arcades here in Brazil aren't dark like that. Lots of color lights, yes, but not dark. Unfortunately, 90% of the arcades are on shopping malls, making the price to play more expensive (here arcades use cards, that you must load with an ammount of money, since games have prices like R$ 2,15) Still better than nothing. But it's very sad to see an arcade closing.
For a second I thought it was *all* arcades in Toronto, not just downtown Chinese malls usually have pretty decent arcades. Orbits has a lot network Japanese vs games the last time I remember it. Still sucks though that you can't just find one Downtown like you used to.
