Just curious, can anybody tell me what the last released Japanese HuCard, SuperGrafx HuCard, CD-ROM² and Arcade CD-ROM² games were? I already know the last Super CD-ROM² game was Dead of the Brain 1&2, since it was the last PCE game overall.
I take it you mean officially released games? After all Implode (SCD) was released in 2001 some 2 years after DotB1&2, but is a homebrew effort.
Pcecp.com can help. Too bad you can't search by release date or game size. Edit: Last CD game appears to be Rainbow Islands released 1993-06-30. Last HuCard appears to be Bomberman '94, released 1993-12-10.
Last Hucard : 21 Emom (12/94) Last SGX : 1941 Counter Attack (08/91) Last CD-ROM : Cosmic Fantasy Visual Collection Vol. 1 (02/93)(not sure the last one...) Last Super-CD-ROM² : Dead Of The Brain 1 & 2 (06/1999) Last Arcade Card : Mado Monogatari (12/96)
What´s this Dead of the Brain thing, why was it released so damn late? I remember Assembler had a page on it but I can't find it :-(
For some reason the name sticks out in my mind as being some horror-themed H-game, but maybe I just have rocks in my head.
It's a digital comic/horror adventure very similar to Snatcher. Dead of the Brain I&II were originally PC88/98 and MSX games (like Snatcher) and were later ported to FM Towns. A PCE port was always announced but got pushed further and further back (don't know the reasons behind this). Anyway, NEC finally got around to releasing it in '99 in very limited quantities, thus it has now become rather rare and expensive. I think the last game to be released before Dead of the Brain was one of the Shiawase Usagi gal-games in '97.
