Well, we are homo sapiens, the latest in a line of (generally) highly intelligent, hairless apes to walk the earth. The current iteration of the homo genus is thought to be at least 8000 years old, possibly more. Homo sapiens is capable of shaping its environment in a way that few other species on Earth can. It has many natural preditors in the wild, but its adaptability and technological advances have essentially placed it on the top of the food chain.
