Launch Day GC Drive, anyone?

On the GC, there are 3 known drive revisions, as http://tmb.elitedvb.net/dvd-game/index.php/DriveVersions explains.

Now, there is a rumour that a GC-D2A chip exists, it was rumoured to be on a launch-day japanese cube.

I would be very interested in knowing if this rumour is true, did anyone with a launch GC dare to open it and look for it? It's written on the small chip (CPU) on the drive.

I have a LU 101X and is indeed a launch system.

I had to pay a girl $100 extra for it because she waited in line for so long. Dang old women.

I have a launch NTSC Game Cube,I can check out it and see.Good thing I replaced the screws with some phillips screws.
