Not sure if this was the right part of the forum to post this.

I've got a Super Nintendo and a Sega Mega Drive, I've modded both, the SNES has a region and 60Hz switch, the Mega Drive just has a 60Hz switch. I've been using them both on my old 32" Sony Bravia TV which for some reason, doesn't like the mods.
With the SNES, the image is slight fuzzy when it's in 60Hz.

As for the Mega Drive, sometimes the image keeps cutting out, but not sure if that's down to mod I've done or the RGB SCART cable I'm using.
I'm using a HD Convertor to turn the RDG to HDMI to play the SNES at 60Hz, but I have to play it at a smaller resolution, so that bugs me abit.

I'd like to get a 22-24" LCD/LED TV to throw on my computer desk, so that I can hook up the consoles here. I know a CRT would be the ideal pick, but the desk is not big enough to handle something that big/deep.
A couple of weeks ago I went into Currys with my SNES and Mega Drive, talked to the staff and they actually let me try out the TV's and I found 1 of their own brands that worked perfectly with the SNES, even at 60Hz, didn't like the Mega Drive at 60Hz, but I can live with that.
Was all looking good till I discovered a problem where the damn thing would do an "1st time setup" everytime I turned it on, I took the TV back and got a replacement, but that did the same thing. They didn't give me an option of a 3rd, so I just got a refund.
So at the moment I don't have a desk TV to hook my consoles up too.

Rather long winded way to post a question, but basically I'm looking for a 22-24" TV, that will run my SNES properly at 60Hz, unfortunately I've tried all the TV's in my local Currys and there are no other real TV shops round where I live.
Any suggestions on a TV to pick up? Or a way to solve my "fuzzy" problem.

A PAL snes doesn't actually run at exactly the correct timing when putting in the 60hz switch. The 1chip consoles do, as you also need to switch the crystal.

Similar deal with the mega drive (though there's also a low sync signal issue iirc), there's a mod for the sync issue on mmmonkey. The timing thing, there are mods for that around too.

But if you are only interested in 60hz, probably better to buy some ntsc consoles, than shop around for a TV that accepts slightly non standard signals.

If you want to get the most out of your systems and avoid lag, you are going to need a scaling device. They can make the image much, much better. The king is the micomsoft xrgb mini, assuming your systems put out scart and you can hdmi in to your tv. The xrgb 2+ does vga if thats more your speed.

Scalers still don't like the non standard timing.

    Thanks for the replies.
Long and short of it, should I give up trying to find a TV to run my PAL SNES at 60Hz and just be happy playing at 50?

You should get the mods done properly.

There was an opening for modding work and you didn't take it. Point to your signature ;)

Through ahem *looks both ways* watching porn on my new TV *shifty eyess* I've found my Vizio E series 43 inch will display quite well any resolution I throw at it. I just need some kind of S-Video pass through for my older stuff as it's Composite/Component only as far as analog in.

Still for a modern TV to display Sub 480p images that don't look like ass it's quite a feat.

Hes saying it works in 50hz, so its not a 240p issue. Its the fact that when you mod a 50hz console to output 60hz, the timing is slightly off unless you change all the crystals etc.

The 1chip snes doesnt have this problem, as the mod includes changing the clock. There is also a switchable crystal circuit for the Mega Drive.

The original snes - that I know of, no one has bothered to investigate it. But I have some ideas, but all my TV's work fine with the "off" colour sub carrier.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood the 1st reply, if I change the crystals it will sort ou tthe timing issue?
How do I go about this?
Been awhile some I did the mod, but I'm pretty sure I followed the mmmonkey guide http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/snes-5060hz-switch-with-lockout-switch/
