Every other piece of hardware that marketed itself as a game/computer with a higher price than a game system a cheaper price than a computer has failed. It's a very dangerous way to position your product. Has the market changed? People who want a game system don't want to pay extra for PC features. People who want a PC don't want to buy a scaled down version that can't really do much of anything but play games. That's always been a no man's land....I'm wondering if Sony can pull it off. I'm just wondering why?
You do know some people dont like it when you take their pictures and use them without giving them credit. It is a water marked picture you know...
I doubt this will be the downfall of Sony. It won't sell nearly as many systems as the PSone or PS2, but this company has enough fan boys to keep their steam running. Even if the system were to actually fail miserably, remember they have a ton of other products! Their not just a maker of consoles. While some people will be spending their moolah on a $600 "computer gaming system that even wipes your butt", I'll be using the $400 I've saved to purchase a Wii, extra controller, and a few games.
yeah but the picture is still someone elses. Someone im guessing you havent asked. Hes also someone who worked pretty hard to get those pics on his site.
If I had a penny for every time I saw one of my images on another page... It's flattery, not infringement.
exactly. The question is how many of these so called fanboys will stay true to sony now that GTA isn't exclusive, that FF is going slowly but certainly to every console and that sony games are becoming tired reharshes, all of this on a costly machine that doesnt even call itself an home console, with high priced games, no real killer app so far, deceiving performances, a doubt that the machine will be able to output better graphics than the xbox 360 , that nintendo seem to have regained it's notoriety and bad after bad after bad other news?
Theres a very good reason they are trying to peddle it as a computer. Theres some weird tax thing where you pay less tax if its a pc. They tried to classify ps2's as computers a while back so they didnt have to pay tax but it was rejected. Here we go http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/06/20/ps2_not_a_pc/
So many predictions Remember that PSX thingy? It didn't sell. I agree that all the consoles marketed as computers failed. Sony may be different, but the big thing I noticed is that Sony has been acting awfully cocky. Listen to their E3 speeches, look at their nonchalant interviews. After the initial appeal of hardcore gamers waiting in silly lines, who's left? And who wants the "lesser system"? At least 360 owners could upgrade later. How many parents can justify a $600 christmas present? -Sean
the thing is: most sony fanboys are those who grown with the brand , just like you did in the 80s and early 90s with nintendo, or just casuals gaming enthusiasts who got caught in the hype and think the ps2 is more powerful than the xbox and gamecube. None of them will spend 600 bucks for a multimedia machine, either because they simply cannot or because they just don't care enough about games to burn so much.
Commodore 64 sold more than 30 million units, Amiga and Atari sold for videogame purposes too (admittedly, they're not consoles but then if PS3 is going to offer Linux it'll need to have a keyboard too). It just hasn't happened recently since the IBM PC standard has been the standard for so long.
