    Can anyone recommend some good learning programs or games for learning japanese? I'm currently using Rosetta Stone which has helped with the basics but I'm looking for anything further. I also have My Japanese Tutor for ds which isn't bad. Good kanji programs would be helpful also but I really hope there is a way I can become proficient without having to break down and take a dedicated class.

    Find "Remembering the Kanji" its a book though...
    You mentioned you already have the two best resources available, other than a tutor.

    I initially tried to learn Japanese by myself (using books, software and so on) but they don't replace an hands-on class. The amount I've learned during my two years class are way beyond (I feel) what I could have learned using books and CDs only...

    "moving to Japan", as GaijinPunch said, is also a definite plus ;-)

    It's pretty hard to structure your life by yourself and sit down and put the required number of hours into learning as you really should. That's why classes exist.

    I recommend checking out http://www.alljapaneseallthetime.com for good info and if you'd like, content.

    Slime forest (http://lrnj.com/) helped me alot a couple of years ago with memorizing kana and kanj, altough I find the current version kind of weird and slower for learning.

    Audio and video lessons are slow and you'll forget everything a couple of days later unless you engage in conversation with someone.
    Nothing beat moving to Japan or some classes.

    @Tatsujin

    Can you translate the title of those? :D

    漢字そのまま - DS楽引辞典 (kanji sonomama - rakubiki jiten)
    漢検DS2(kanken DS2 -> now already DS3)

    I own the first one mentioned and it is, indeed, pretty good. My handwriting, even more so with a stylus, is really bad, though, so I struggle a bit with it some times.

    Still, very recommendable choice.

    Thanks, I'll "try" these out because its obvious I need some serious help with my kanji xD

    JLPT is available at my country for the first time and I'm seriously considering taking it, these can really help since since nihongo classes are not an option ATM
