Least/most you've spent on unreleased games I know alot of people here have games that never made it out the door, and in many cases have paid considerable ammounts to posses them. Its often a subject of discussion that no one wants to make said games available on the net because of their value being lost, but how valuable were they in the first place? How much were you all willing to spend to get these 'treasures' for your collection? I personaly only own a handful of unreleased games, all of which I got for practicly nothing. Ranging from my cheapest purchase of 'Thrill Kill' for the PSX(previous to it becoming widely available on the net) at $15, up to the only slightly more expensive (but still unavailable on the net) 'Black 9' for XBox at $60. So whats everyones story? Did you "drop the house payments and jr.'s college fund" (to quote the movie 'Casino') on what are undoubtably some of the prizes of your collection, or did you aquire them from unknowing individual for mere pocket change?
I haven't paid any amount for any unreleased game/proto, simply because I haven't had the means until now. Speaking of buying unreleased games, how is Black 9 and are you willing to sell?
$200 was the cheapest, $1,000 was the most expensive. These are NES games, though, which is an entirely different market.
$0, I don't have any unreleased games. Someone should buy the $50 Black9 on ebay and see what they get...
Even though I couldn't really afford it, so would I, and thus I did. And no, I havn't recieved it in the mail yet (it should come either tommorow or Friday). In the event its the real deal ill make sure to give you all details and impressions on the game.
Cheapest $100 most expensive $1000 A bit like TheRedEye hehe, but I'd never drop silly money on anything 8 bit or less.
hmm only get n64 protos of released games for the moment never find out a unreleased game (1000$ for toon panic was far too much ...)
I paid $1200 for the Atari Jaguar version of Robinson's Requiem as well as the PC Files to mass produce it. I was hoping to attain the rights to publish from Simarils but they ended up in bankruptcy in France so over the course of 2 years I gave up. I sold it for that same $1200 to an individual who sells/produces games in the hopes that he would have the resources to get the game released. I also have a slew of other unreleased Jaguar games that I paid varying amounts for. Robinson's Requiem was the most I ever paid for an unreleased piece of "software".
I once spent £2 on what I believed was a MegaDrive production cartridge including an early version of FIFA '99, which ultimately turned out to be a rather poor hack of the '98 edition (Road To The World Cup) on one of those flash devices you can get online. I later found out that there wasn't even an official version of the '99 update, but at least I made a small profit selling this item with a slightly better game on it. After all, would YOU pay for a copy of the Sonic 2 prototype on a homebrew development board when it is already so easily available to download for absolutely nothing?
$50/ea a few years back for prototypes of the unreleased Burning Fists/Force Striker Alpha (same game, different working titles, both VERY early, and I had both copies) on the JPN MegaCD. I ended up selling them both to a collector during a huge financial pinch (read: dot-com-bomb).
