I've been playing legend of heros for psp and decided I like the game alot. I love traditional type rpgs and im a sucker for 2d characters on a 3d environment. Also I really enjoy the storyline and variety of characters. The people at ign diddnt feel the same way: LOH reviewed among the crappiest titles to come out on psp or any other system with a super crappy rating of around 5.5. However, the average consumer rating for the game was 9.0 and the average rating for sites in the "network" was around 6.0. So I decided to check out other sites that were'nt in the network and they all had higher ratings than those that were. I dont think that LOH is the greatest game of all time, but I feel as though it got stiffed and that it will probly be one of those overlooked games that people collect later on and pay 80 bucks for because it got pulled from shelves due to a lack of interest.
If its any consolation, I'm buying it as soon as it gets its PAL release Though I think Tales of Eternia is due out here before that....hmm...
Since when is a 6/10 (3/5) a "super crappy rating?" If anything, that's the very definition of an *average* game. One that fans will like, but isn't going to draw in anyone else. Far cry from "crappy." -hl718
Apparently you don't read IGN much. Their score system goes something like this: 10 = "OmIG@wsh! ThI$ game R0xores My B0Xor3s!" 9 = Very good, definetly worth checking out 8 = Still good but could have been better 7 = Will be enjoyable only to a select few 6 = Has a few redeeming elements, but overall isn't worth the time or money (even for fans) 5 = Like 6 minus the redeeming elements From that point down its just varying levels of crap.
6 basically says to be wait till its 9.99 in the bin with NFL gameday[insert any year besides present here] and isnt worth my $40.00 plus tax. As for tales of eternia im somewhat skeptical on namco's rpg development skills. If it were capcom or square producing it I would have the money set aside already. Now what psp ought to do is re- release classic games on psp like Breath of Fire III, saga frontier, einhander, and chrono trigger like nintendo did with gb advance. At least they got the namco arcade with galaga and stuff, but the damn game is forty dollars which is way too much for an atari collection. My only hope is that liberty city stories or wipeout pure are worth the money even though im not really a fan of either franchise, otherwise im saving my money for some sega games I've been meaning to pick up.
Can't say I do. The pubs that I fancy all use 3/5 as the midpoint. Basically: 1 = crap 2 = below average 3 = average 4 = above average 5 = shit hot game Kinda sucks that different sites use different midpoints when they're all aggregated together on sites like gamerankings. Besides, what sense does it make to have 5 different versions of "crap?" Better to have more versions of "good" than "bad" methinks, but who am I to judge? Ah well. -hl718
EDGE is pretty much the only magazine to use the 10 point system properly(i.e 5 = Average). Everyone else uses 7 or 8 as Average.
I am buying it hopefully payday, been looking forward to it for ages, along with the other PSP RPG's.
i tried it out. IGN is on crack. They need to stop giving a job to thies shit interns. Its MGA all over again.
>>EDGE is pretty much the only magazine to use the 10 point system properly(i.e 5 = Average). Everyone else uses 7 or 8 as Average. Games(tm) use the same scoring, but the advantage with Games is that they write in english.....and don't try to use every word in the f***in dictionary...... I still buy both religiously every month......
