I have another shopping trip to Japan coming up

I've done it before, I know where to go around the Akiba, Shinjuku, Nakano, etc. and although I could probably spend all my cash Akihabara alone if want PS2 titles, I'd like some more shopping options. I am asking since my last visit in 2006 the selection of SFC, MD and PCE in the Akiba was really minimal. Sure, there were racks and racks of common titles but the good stuff (shooters) was not there. Perhaps someone raided the good stuff before I got there...

This time I like to prepare a list of shops to visit outside the regular areas to prevent coming home with only PS1/PS2 titles. I googled (in Japanese) for gameshops in Tokyo and found a few more, but no doubt the Assembler community can help to compile a list of shops outside the regular areas?

unfortunately the real shacks of PCE etc. softs are all placed in akiba, nakano (& shibuya). in some other decentraled shops you can find some 8/16bit stuff here and there, but it's not really the place to dig big vintage treasures.

Well, I've had lots of luck just over the Edogawa in Chiba, where I happened to stay on my first trip. Seriously, I've been poked fun at for saying this, but I think it's really worth the time and money to ride the JR a few stops beyond Akihabara. Some examples of stuff I found while there:

    - four sets of boxed DC Maracas for 1980 yen apiece
    - boxed Panasonic Q in very good condition, 12000Y
    - boxed AES, 15000 if I remember right (didnt buy it though)
    - Saturn Sakura Taisen memory card in mint condition, 1000Y
    - tons of Hucards for 100Y

Granted, this might be peanuts to some but I quite liked it, compared to the ass-raping prices here in Holland (especially back in 2004). In fact there was a lot more but this is just what I remember. Bottom line: there's good retro deals outside of Akihabara, too!

yeah..you can spend one day (coz it needs almost one day to go there and travel back from TYO) at "tougane kanteidan" in chiba and dig for some treasures. but i was there few weeks ago, and all i could find was a bunch of lose crap mostly in bad shape, altough for very cheap sometimes. anyway, if you search hard in this VG junk yard, you may dig some good catches.
