Have you reported this to the authorities though? It seems like you may have a better chance of identifying the thief with your CC company's help.

No, I'm just recalling what I was told in 2011, by memory. It may not be exactly like that, although I remember it as being like that.
The module was generally about information security. There was a segment about EMV, where we also covered a case study of a man-in-the-middle attack on this rather secure card.

Card skimmers, they can be pretty small and are usually hidden inside a false front on card readers. The false fronts are usually not stuck down well..
They just read the mag strip

if the eftpos terminal can't read the chip (either contact less or inserted) it defaults back to "swipe".. if the swipe doesn't work then ya'll have to go in manual

The newest skimmers are all internal to gas pumps.
Any older pump without an encrypted keypad could be compromised.
They tie into both the card reader and the keypad to get debit and zip codes.
Gas pumps have used the exact same keys for ~30 years now.... Some sites change them, most don't.

I hate to bump a dead thread, but I feel like people should know this. It was definitely gamereproductions.com. The same thing just happened to me and I had to cancel my card. Tried to cancel the actual order and their email address is no good. Tried hunting for their phone number (found one in Kentucky by searching for gizzygames)--it's not accepting calls either. It's weird though--I'd ordered from them before ages and ages ago and it went fine. I don't know if this guy just fell off the side of the planet and his site was hacked or what. I had to dispute the charge.

But yeah. Buyer beware.
