Lately I've been working on making myself better. You know exercising eating healthy using my time a little more efficiently... stuff like that. Every once in a while I'll find something on the internet that will help something click in my head or give me a new idea to be better or more efficient. So I've had this idea for a little bit to start a thread here. Basically post videos, books, blogs, articles, stories, etc. Something that helped you get out of a rut do something better. Something that if someone asked you help change your life and turn it around what would it be? I'll get the ball rolling. My by far favorite book for understanding how thoughts relate to our actions is "As a Man Thinketh" by James Allen. Another one I found recently that has been helpful is the "Good Life Project" One video in particular that helped me think was the interview he his interview with Charles Duhigg - Power of Habit
I have some of my own theories on how to approach life improvement. This can be a complicated subject, and the best things to do are different for each person. What works great for one person might not be the best for another one. Some people tend to want to flip their life over at some points, because they want to change many things at once. For some people whose life are a complete mess this might be the best move. But I am more of a mind with a step by step conscious approach. There are two basic ways to approach it. 1.Eliminating the bad things that you do. ( Eliminative process ) 2.Finding new things that help you get better at what you want to get better at. ( Constructive process ) What you chose to focus on at a given time should depend on your immediate condition. People with a lot of problems should focus on getting rid of them before anything else. Taking problems one at a time should help too. Lest you get overwhelmed. The most universal advice I can give Is simply to spend a little time actually thinking about all the things that you do and why you do them. Try to have a clear and rational idea of why you do things and how they fit with your values and ideals. Once you have found yourself explanations to all that you do, you should have a much clearer idea of what are the bad things that you do. Those are the things you should want to eliminate. Doing this should also help you realize what you want as an ideal, Be it be healthy? Be it be popular? Be it be rich? Be it be learned etc.. From there the path should be clearer. Shedding light on darkness is a good start I think.
Definitely good stuff there. It's important to realize that everyone is different but many times something that helps one person will get through to another person, and for someone else they will think it's odd.
Going to bump this thread with an article I read today. http://www.forbes.com/sites/cheryls...tally-strong-people-the-13-things-they-avoid/ Let me know what you think.
