Oh, so close... and yet so far away.

Could that be a more bland, generic building?
It doesn't have to be a sparkling piece of archetecture, and kudos for not leveling the place needlessly, but they could add a little color. Even the logo is monotone.

I guess, but I think it has a certain appeal as it is! ha ha And what'd be the point of coloring it up, anyway? It's tucked away behind several other office buildings, along a little alley of a street and some train tracks!

    Cheers GP,

Huge thunderstorm this afternoon in Tokyo, and the evenings are drawing in. It's pretty dark by about 7pm, and this reflection in the puddles caught my eye. The green-shift of the spotlight caught the green in the black asphalt, and I just snapped this quickly on my way to the train station after a hard day's work.

I like that picture. Much post production done on it?

    Thanks Yakumo.

I took the RAW photo and corrected the white balance (it was too warm due to the type of lights), then I pulled down the yellow still further. I added a slight darkened vignette (i.e. darkened the edges of the photo) but that was just something I tend to do (see the above photos); this image didn't require it because it was so dark around the edges anyway.

it really has come out nice. You could use that image as the background to some Sci-Fi or horror movie.

You will find the WB is almost always way too warm for night shots, assuming your'e using auto. However, it's an easy change so I never change it. ;)

Yeah; I concur. I did use a different preset to auto, but it was still a little too warm. I basically wanted the yellow tone removed to give the B&W effect. I'll be getting a new camera soon which allows for dynamic changing of the white balance on an ad-hoc basis. More knobs to fiddle with.

Great shots -- the graffiti in Tokyo is so fucking awful. Glad to see there's at least one good one in the country.

Excelent photos guys. I'm loving the Okinawa stuff and I really like the water shot by Gaijin Punch. What shutter speed do you use for that shot?

I would have to check, and don't have the original here. My guess was that it as F4 in sunlight, so probably 1/1000th at least.

I've watched that bonus documentary from Tekken Tag Tournament 2 which follows one of the directors of the game through Tokyo.

And it's always the same feeling: I need to live in Japan. It seems like you're living inside a dream all the time. Always something unexpected happens. A guy dressed like a Panda or Pyramid Head just walking down the street!

This guy went to a bar named Cap Bar, a bar that is run by Capcom.
There's the hadoken and shoryuken drinks.
A brain cake out of Resident Evil.

Japan is the most awesome place in the face of the earth, it just missing halloween eheheheheh.
Which we don't have here either :(
