Lightgun support for RGB to component transcoder

Has anyone tried to see if a transcoded RGB to component video output still registers lightguns? I've been thinking of going RGB for my Dreamcast (and by extension my Saturn when I get a replacement one), but don't want to lose lightgun support. Has anyone tried it? Unfortunately I don't have anything here to test!

 

Light guns should still work if you're using a CRT TV, the RGB to component conversion doesn't matter.
