ok i need to know what the colours mean when it starts up the on/disk light flashes green when that stops is stays orange when opens it flashes orange until it is full open then is stays orange when closing it flashes orange when the disk is loading it flashes green then stops loading and stays orange is this right?
I'd suggest you to try to run a test-write, so create a masterdisc images and burn it to a gd-r but in test-write mode (with laser turned off). This would tell you if everything is ok with your writer. -=FamilyGuy=-
well my HKT-01 hasnt arrived yet, and when is does i still have to get the PCI card, cables and a spare computer, so i cant check it for a while.
Ok, I see, You can still use the gd-writer alone without the devkit if you have the scsi card (recommended one for the hkt-01 is the adaptec 2940U or W I think). As far as I know, if the writer keep the blank gd-rom (aka don't spit it out) it's ok. Good luck and congrats for the pretty low price you got for your devkit (I was lurking on ebay) I would have bidded on it if the shipping was lower for over-sea shiping ... -=FamilyGuy=-
well it doesnt spit out the blank disk when i put it in, but it doesnt spitout any disk i put into it blank dvd bland cd written dvd DC game EDIT ok opened it up and found a loose cable, it connects to the terminator and id select board, should have nothing to do with the drive though, heres a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9eiNZBd4bc
Well, it looks like it doesn't even tries to read the disc, usually once it reads it, it keeps it spinning for about 2 minutes ... Maybe the firmware is corrupted, flashing it back is easy with a scsi card. I hope it's not dead -=FamilyGuy=-
im going to have to wait for my dev kit to arrive first, then get a windows 98 PC and install everything, so this is gonna take sometime
This does not come from personal experience but I`ve seen many a post on this forum before stating the Katana can connect to a winxp machine with the correct sdk and scsi adapter installed.
If you already got the pci card you could still plug the gd-writer to your pc (putting the jumper to any adress and put a jumper on the "terminal" connection [parity may also be needed]). It'd let you test-write using the cri gd-r tools. -=FamilyGuy=-
I still need another pc because all the pc slots are being used and it also shared with 3 other people, also i have dissassembled the gd-r writer and put it back together and got some good results but still problems i think, video soon :icon_bigg Edit http://youtube.com/watch?v=WkGfWC8UK84 EDIT 2: i have just noticed that the laser does not seem to move, you can move it up and down but the laser on its own does not move.
