hmm now that i have a 360...that old black box is just sitting there wanting to be hacked I dunno if i'll do the full linux install (unless i can easily get the networking working) but it would be a fun diversion All i need is splinter cell, my memory card, usb cable and expoilt Ryan
I just installed it last night after reading this, it is really well done, a lot of sites look terrible though where it doesn't render the page properly, but it's still useable!
bah, i tried looking into tutorials on a softmod inbetween exams today...it's all so confusing 0_O maybe i'll use it as a foot stole for the time being
It just seems complex, but isn't too bad when done step by step. XBox Media Center is also pretty amazing. I installed it last week, and use it at least once or twice a day.
I'm quite tempted to hack it this week, as i have the week off......quick question. after i have say the splinter cell game, a expolitable game save, I've read that this allows me to then use an audio hack to install the new dashboard, while others have said that this hack installs the dashboard... Quite confusing, theres quite a few options to hack it
What you need is a package exploit if you don't feel like doing it all by hand. I've heard good things about Krazie's Ndure installer, although I've never tried it (I'm using some outdated UDE2 mod or something to that effect).
I take it a package exploit gets you everything you need, except the kitchen sink Ndrue seems to be the most popular..i'll need to look into it some more Ryan
The installer that I used (Softmod installer Deluxe) had two files that are copied to an AR memory card. The save is loaded in Splinter Cell, and immediately starts a new dashboard. The dashboard has an option to backup the current dashboard, install the softmod, and then install EVox or UnleashX. The initial dashboard is installed to start whenever the xbox is started with the tray ejected.
Hmm, sounds like a pretty good installer. Ill have to track down a version of it Hopefully its compatible with v1.6 xboxs
