where can I download a version of linux to put on my modded xbox?

I remember playing around with KnoppixSTD and PHLAK back in the day.

 

I got a Linux version for XBox on an 'official' pressed disc.... lol.
It came with a book called 'Hacking the Xbox' and was for sale at Mediamarkt stores...
I really didn't need it in any way, but HAD to buy it as it was too funny they sold it instore

Back in the day I ran GentooX on my xbox and it ran like a champ. That was back before xbox media center was out and all we had was Xbox Media Player. The Mplayer in GentooX ran more videos then xbmp so that was the major use for it at that time. The great part is if your xbox didnt have a hard drive upgrade it would fit fine on the e drive.

 

OK, I got the disc here: it's a GentooX pack (543MB) along with some additional (and dated) software on the disc.
If you still want it, I could dump and share here (disc total of 556MB).

I dont think I have my Linux files anymore for my box, I fragged my C: back then and restored it and added XDK.

OK, as promised, here's the disc which has GentooX.
Any copyright notices are void: all the apps are also available for free on the net.
Funny thing is that in the book, they only speak very briefly about the new console and then everything just concerns modding the original Xbox console.

I'm not aware what version is on it, as I'm guessing there are several builds available...

I remember having the german version of this book. the disk should be somewhere. ill compare the contents when im home.
(Did I forget having books?)

 

One of the forum members at xbmc4xbox reworked xdsl for xbox which works well, i havent used earlier versions but this version i used with usb mouse/kb and had firefox running.
