I'm looking for a list of the titles that had enhanced audio. Just recently purchased an AV Famicom and want to get the most out of the games :D. Anybody know of a definitive list somewhere?

Been digging into some of these. To me, and just IMHO, it seems like all the carts w/ extra hardware have awesome music, and great sound otherwise, hands down. On the other hand, it seems some of the FDS titles that also had cart releases are only marginally better, "just different" (maybe not better or worse), worse than their cart brethren, or downright annoying (Zelda 2 bosses... "rawrrr... rawrrr... rawrrr... rawrrr... rawrrr... rawrrr..." repeat until ears bleed :livid:).

Is that pretty much standard for the FDS titles? Are there any real standouts as far as putting the Disk System's extras to use sound-wise? I've compared Zelda I and II, Castlevania I and II, none of which seemed much better on FDS (maybe one song on Castlevania II, which makes me think they could really crank the tunes out if they wanted, but most of the other songs just don't have the same "punch" as the US cart).

Just curious what opinions are on the FDS sound. So far, it seems a bit... meh?

It can be helpful but it isn't anything huge. It's probably the least interesting of all the sound expansions. I hope you weren't expecting games to sound like Lagrange Point. ;)

Well... would have been nice lol :smile-new: Luckily I haven't bought an FDS yet. I was thinking about it, but after research, I just can't help but feel that I honestly like the cart versions better. Kinda feels the same as when I think about buying a Virtual Boy... why bother? IMHO of course, no offense to FDS or Virtual Boy fans :love-struck:

There are a few interesting FDS games without cartridge versions. But the PowerPAK can cover you there and you can avoid having to deal with the actual FDS system which is expensive and can be really annoying when it breaks down on you. The Virtual Boy is something I thought of buying once too. But unless you're a pretty hardcore collector or something, it's probably not worth it. Maybe if it were cheaper but it's relatively expensive.

VBoy library is pretty small but it does have it's expensive hitters, plus the only flash option is still $100 something

Even if you're not overwhelmingly impressed with the sound quality, the FDS is still a pretty fun piece of hardware. :)

I'm sure it is fun, but it's a very expensive toy.

Not expensive, I got mine for $20 off Yahoo. If you buy a bundle you can get one with 10, 15 games for $100. Of course you'll probably have to exchange the belt which is not really difficult, but requires some calm hands and patience.

Probably. Sellers within Japan have utterly-unfathomable-to-westerners low prices for certain items.

Well, found a few titles that have really good music/sound IMHO:

    Meikyuu Jiin Dababa
    Arumana no Kiseki
    Ai Senshi Nicol
    Esper Dream
    Otocky

Just bought a refurb'd FDS w/ AC adapter. Thought about just playing FDS games off of a PowerPak, but I guess legally I need to own an FDS anyway in order to put its bios on there. Plus, I'm not sure if any/all of the games I'm getting require side B :(, and from what I understand, the Pak can't handle a side B switch(?). Should be a nice addition to the collection regardless.

Now on to the VirtualBoy!... ehhhh, maybe not :\
