Anyone went to see the shows? I went to the Copacabana Beach. Some great shows, totally free! The shows i had the opportunity to see: DJ Marky, Marcelo D2, MV Bill, Jota Quest, Pharell Williams and Lenny Kravitz
Watched it on TV, thus totally negating the object of the show. I had a 37" LCD, plugged into an AV amp, combined with a large Jamo subwoofer. The show alone generated greater carbon footprinting than was entirely necessary, but I didn't help. The Sun (shit tabloid rag in the UK mascarading as a newspaper) put it nicely with "Millions heed the message of LIVE Earth and switch their TV's off" lol - apparently only 4.5Million viewers watched in the UK. That is a very, very low figure. The producers also decided to chop the last Metallica song (one of the largest rock bands on the fucking planet) to cut to LIVE Earth Australia to see......Crowded House. I was furious and switched off at that point. No offense to Neil Finn et al, nice bunch of guys, but come on!
Watched it on TV. Great performances as I really loved the Peppers among others...it's a little tough for me to latch on to something by Al Gore though. I've been raised in Middle Tennessee most of my life and have seen first hand some of his decisions. It's one of the reasons he couldn't carry his own state when he ran for President. I only hope the message is absorbed by the masses despite what some might think of his past decisions. -J
I´m really getting sick of all this stupid global warming shit, so I didn´t go to performances, nor watched them on TV.
earth is a living planet, it's natural for it to change. even un-natural causes are caused by a natural side-effect in the most extreme cases. A meteor crashing on the planet is also an un-usual disaster. But this is the way things are. If stuff is going to get extinct, sea levels are to rise and bugs taking over the globe, then so be it. It's history in the making and in 1.000 years it will be accepted as a fact.
George Carlin said it the best: Earth's been here for 4.5 Billion years. Industrialized humans: 200 years. If we were a threat to Earth, it would use it's powers of destruction to make sure we become one of the 90+% of species that have ever been around to become extinct.
